Carey Serfontein

General Manager and Site Leader, Americas Operations
 
As General Manager and Site Leader, Microsoft Business Operations (MBO) for the Americas, Carey Serfontein leads a 450+ person team in Reno and around the globe enabling fulfillment and revenue processing for the company’s largest commercial, OEM, public sector, and advertising markets. Her teams work with Microsoft Sellers and Partners to manage the company’s revenue pipeline from opportunities to invoice and together, aspire to make it easy for customers to do business with Microsoft in excess of $80 billion. In addition to developing and nurturing customer and partner relationships, Carey’s team is responsible for building, launching, and maintaining operational programs and processes, ensuring Microsoft is ready to transact using the technology of tomorrow. She also carries leadership responsibilities for the Reno office planning the types of community investments Microsoft makes locally to both align with the company's core values and partner closely with local government, business and nonprofit organizations, and the Microsoft corporate teams bringing technology, business opportunity and careers to Reno.
 
 
Prior to her current role, Carey worked in Redmond Washington leading the Central Services organization and served as the Chief of Staff and trusted advisor to the Operations Leadership Team. She and her team drove e2e Operations strategy, compete research, business intelligence and risk management as shared services across the global MBO organization. Prior to MBO, Carey spent four years in Enterprise Commerce where she led a portfolio of complex launches for commercial enterprises, small and medium-size businesses, public sector offers and programs. She has also owned and managed her own successful management consulting practice focused on strategy, change leadership and transformation for consumer businesses.
 
 
Carey holds a BA from the University of Washington. She is passionate about lifetime learning, raising the performance bar for herself and leading organizations to exceed business expectations. In her personal time, she enjoys time with her husband, children and grandchildren, exercising, practicing mindfulness and traveling.

Dan Klein

Senior Director, OEM Operations

Dan is based in Microsoft's Americas Operations Center in Nevada and leads the global OEM Business Operations team. He’s accountable for operations strategy and execution with responsibilities including breadth partner channel management, licensing and contract management, invoicing, compliance, physical and digital supply chain fulfillment, product launch, and business analytics. He’s recognized as a results-driven software and services executive with extensive business development, strategic alliances, operations, international team leadership, partner relationship building, and project management experience. He previously served as Chief of Staff, responsible for Operations strategy, rhythm of business planning, executive communications, business performance measurement, and leader of the Chiefs of Staff and Operations Leadership Team communities. He has a unique blend of both global operations and field customer/partner management experience, with an expertise in managing cross-cultural teams of 5-20 direct reports to 200+ personnel operations centers, including extensive matrix management and 5,000+ deployed forces.

Prior to his work at Microsoft, Dan served as a US Air Force officer managing global crisis operations centers in Greece, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia; drove supply chain software implementations as a process consultant at Accenture; and managed customer operations and partner recruitment/management at two startup companies and Sybase. Dan holds an M. S. degree in Information & Telecommunication Systems from The Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with minors in Economics and Engineering Management from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Mario Viamin

Senior Finance Director, Americas Operations Center

Mario currently leads Finance for Microsoft’s Americas Operations, which includes Statutory Accounting, Revenue Recognition for Microsoft’s Volume Licensing and OEM businesses, Advertising Operations (Bing and MSN), Partner Incentives and Licensing Compliance. His team operates out of several sites in the Unites States and Puerto Rico as well as Latin America, covering approximately $40b in annual revenues.
Mario has more than 25 years’ experience in Finance, Sales Operations and Business Management working for leading companies such as Boston Consulting Group, Hewlett-Packard, Nokia and Microsoft. In his most recent role at Nokia, Mario was the Regional CFO for the Americas and managed the business through periods of high growth and also through a difficult restructuring when the business sharply declined in 2012-2013.

Originally from Europe where he has lived and worked in several countries, he has been a resident of the Unites States for the past 20 years and proudly became a US Citizen in 2007. He aspires to be a citizen of the world and draws energy from learning about diverse cultures and their contributions to humanity.

Mario has been an advocate for Diversity and Inclusion across all its dimensions and is committed to help build the support systems that are necessary for underrepresented communities to make progress. In 2017, shortly after starting his current role, Mario has led the creation of Microsoft’s Reno Diversity Council which aims to increase employee engagement in Diversity initiatives, including Women, Racial and Ethnic Minorities and beyond.

Sr. Director, Global Business Process Outsourcing

Maureen is responsible for our global Business Process Outsourcing. As part of Microsoft’s Modern journey, she is driving a major effort to modernize BPO capabilities for Microsoft’s Regional Operating Center (ROC) transactions covering contract executions through payment incentives. She is a champion for automation, process standardization, and Microsoft technology platforms to allow the BPO to provide quality service at the speed Microsoft’s customers and partners require.

Maureen is responsible for all BPO services across Microsoft Business Operations which includes delivering Transaction Management, eCommerce, Sales Support, Digital Delivery, Incentive Calculations and Partner Support.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Maureen retired from Nike after 23-years. She was responsible for the Strategic Partner Management Office and oversite of ITO services. She has 30+ years of international IT marketplace experience, extensive knowledge of outsourcing practices and has management experience throughout North America, Asia and Europe. She is a frequent keynote speaker at industry forums and is known to challenge the status quo, drive hard for meaningful change and lead the way with dramatic vision.

Maureen lives in Reno, NV with her husband Dave and enjoys Scuba Diving, Porsche Rally’s and all out having fun.
