Unique in its commitment to artwork in the workplace, The Microsoft Art Collection was launched in 1987 by a committee made up of employees interested in collecting and displaying artwork created by artists from the community. Over the past quarter-century, the Collection has mirrored the corporation’s meteoric growth with nearly 5,000 artworks on display in over 130 buildings throughout North America.
Microsoft seeks to create a positive work environment through the exhibition of international contemporary artwork. The Collection focuses on emerging and mid-career artists, with a goal to support talented young artists early in their careers. Microsoft believes that displaying art in the workplace creates an inspiring work environment, fostering innovation and creative excellence.
This mission is supported through employee programming and art stewardship practices that are designed to advance Microsoft’s culture, values, and corporate citizenship and reflect the employees’ and corporation’s commitment to the arts and the arts community.
