Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2013 Update 2 is for operating system deployment leveraging the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) for Windows 10.
Feature Summary
MDT is the recommended process and toolset for automating desktop and server operating system deployments. MDT provides you with the following benefits:
- Unified tools and processes, including a set of guidance, for deploying desktops and servers in a common deployment console.
- Reduced deployment time and standardized desktop and server images.
Some of the key changes in MDT 2013 Update 2 are:
- Support for the latest Windows ADK for Windows 10.
- Improvements to deployment and upgrade of Windows 10.
- Support for the current branch of System Center Configuration Manager (currently version 1511).

- Other Software Requirements
- The Windows ADK for Windows 10 is required for all deployment scenarios.
- System Center Configuration Manager, version 1511 or later, is required for zero-touch installation (ZTI) and user-driven installation (UDI) scenarios.
- If you are using ZTI and/or UDI, you are allowed to add the MDT SQL database to any version of System Center Configuration Manager with SQL Technology; if you are using LTI, you must use a separately licensed SQL Server product to host your MDT SQL database.

- Accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.
- Follow the steps in the installation process to complete the installation.
- To start Deployment Workbench, look in All apps in the Start menu for Microsoft Deployment Toolkit.
- Or, to save the .msi file to your computer for later installation, click Save.
