Space Jam: A New Legacy<\/em> is inspiring unique learning opportunities for students of all ages! Basketball and coding have more in common than you might think; they both require practice, creativity, and coaching. That\u2019s why we\u2019ve teamed up to bring educators and students learning materials inspired by the film. Research shows learners are more likely to retain and explore based on culturally relevant areas of passion, and our lessons guide learners through authentically solving real problems.1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>

Learn to code at your own pace with Space Jam: A New Legacy<\/em> on Microsoft Learn<\/h3>

For the more advanced learner, we have launched a new learning path on Microsoft Learn<\/a><\/strong> that will guide students through writing Python and JavaScript using Visual Studio Code<\/strong><\/a> and Azure<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>

The learning path uses machine learning to coach Tune Squad basketball players, inspired by Space Jam: A New Legacy<\/em>, and teaches basic data science principles and machine learning through the lens of optimizing the chances for the Tune Squad to win their basketball game. Also, Dr. Sarah Guthals, Ph.D. in computer science education, is launching a short series of video tutorials<\/a><\/strong> guiding learners through the learning path.<\/p>

Taking inspiration from real NBA and WNBA players, students will learn how to use data to predict the efficiency of individual players throughout a game and create a web application that coaches can use to ensure tired players get water breaks and well-rested players get on the court! In this 90-minute online workshop, titled \u201cSpace Jam: A New Legacy<\/em> coding workshop,\u201d students ages eight and older will have the opportunity to build a playable prototype of a videogame with block-based coding on the MakeCode Arcade platform while learning about the professional skills and STEAM careers that are involved in game design. Parents and students can sign up for the Space Jam: A New Legacy<\/em> coding workshop online<\/strong><\/a> and find additional resources and other free workshops that teach new skills and keep kids entertained this holiday season on the virtual student workshop page<\/strong><\/a>. We\u2019ve also created an educator version of these trainings that makes it easier for teachers to incorporate STEAM lessons in their curricula in the hope of amplifying opportunities for learning. About Space Jam: A New Legacy<\/em><\/h3>

Welcome to the Jam!
