Neil Jordan, GM of WW Health Industry, Microsoft at HIMSS 15

Just to be clear, personally I am not a physician; however, it is a well-known fact that trust between health providers and their patients is both essential and very powerful. So health providers need to be able to trust the underlying IT infrastructure they use to help them deliver care and information to their patients.

In an-depth piece about the interdependency of empowerment through technology and trust, Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer Brad Smith, writes: “Our mission as a company is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. If we’re going to empower every person, we need to protect every person. We need to ensure every individual and organization has the ability to use technology that they can trust.”

At HIMSS16, we’re going to spend a lot of time talking about the importance of trust and how to make the whole IT infrastructure for health transformation trusted by clinicians and their patients, lawmakers, and consumers.

We’ll be showing how along the entire patient journey, solutions from Microsoft and our partners empower health professionals to have not just more meaningful and convenient interactions with patients, but to do so in a trustworthy manner.

We’ll bring to life our commitment to security, privacy, compliance, and transparency with real-world stories from customers and examples of end-to-end security features. As part of that, we’ll showcase in-patient room and home care scenarios and demonstrate that trust and security are something that have to span the breadth of healthcare delivery modalities.

The cloud will be front and center, of course, because it’s one of the most transformational technologies for healthcare. You’ll see how health organizations are taking advantage of the efficiency, scale, and flexibility of cloud services to help them further the triple aim of increasing care access and quality, while reducing costs. And you’ll hear why they put their trust in Microsoft cloud services.

We also want to hear from you. Visit our video booth at booth 3832 and share how modern technologies have empowered you to innovate the way you deliver care. Tell us how we can inspire ever-more trust and what you need from technology for your part of the healthcare world.

Not only will your voice be heard, sharing your thoughts at the video booth will enter you into a raffle for a free Surface Pro 4.

As I wrote in my post-HIMSS blog last year, I hope to see more bridges and less islands at this year’s event. Because transforming healthcare is not something any one company can do alone. To create the level of innovation, customer-centricity, and trust that’s needed, all of us in the industry need to work together to offer open and interoperable solutions—solutions that help health organizations connect information, people, and processes in new and efficient ways with the right security in place.

Toward that goal, I hope that HIMSS16 will showcase a brave new world for health IT — a world where exclusivity is a thing of the past, and inclusivity is the rule of the day. And a world based on a foundation of trust.

I look forward to seeing you at our Microsoft booth 3832.
