By gaining the DOD\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/iase.disa.mil\/cloud_security\/Pages\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Level 5 Provisional Authority (PA)<\/a> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/overview\/clouds\/government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DOD regions of Microsoft Azure Government<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/products.office.com\/en-us\/government\/office-365-web-services-for-government\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Office 365 U.S. Government Defense<\/a>, Microsoft:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Becomes the first and only commercial cloud provider to offer an exclusive DOD cloud that is L5-approved<\/strong> for our infrastructure, platform and productivity services.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Announces general availability of the <a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/overview\/clouds\/government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DOD regions of Microsoft Azure Government<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/products.office.com\/en-us\/government\/office-365-web-services-for-government\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Office 365 U.S. Government Defense<\/a> with L5 authorization<\/strong>. Microsoft has established new, exclusive regions for the DOD comprised of multiple data centers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Over the past several years, we have gained an industry leading number of accreditations and certifications to comply with the most stringent government security standards; for example, Microsoft\u2019s cloud compliance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/TrustCenter\/Compliance\/FedRAMP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program<\/a> (FedRAMP \u2014 including FedRAMP High, FedRAMP, Moderate and FedRAMP Accelerated) is unprecedented. Adding DOD L5 authorization further demonstrates our leadership, and enables customers to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build applications that maintain CUI data requiring a higher level of protection than L4, as deemed necessary by the information owner, public law or other government regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Support unclassified National Security Systems (NSSs) systems.<\/li>\n<li>Obtain superior protection for government-only infrastructure through geographically dispersed and hardened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/cloud-platform\/global-datacenters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft U.S. datacenters<\/a> operated by screened personnel.<\/li>\n<li>Leverage Office 365, the most complete, intelligent and secure productivity service for digital work, empowering seamless collaboration across teams and organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Gain unprecedented data-access controls, advanced threat protection and unified IT management.<\/li>\n<li>Shift resources to mission-critical and differentiated IT projects, via cost savings and efficiencies resulting from migrating commodity services to the cloud.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To date, we have received widespread interest in our new Level 5 capabilities from across the U.S. Department of Defense, including all branches of the military, unified combatant commands and defense agencies.
