{"id":2766,"date":"2017-10-17T04:59:21","date_gmt":"2017-10-17T11:59:21","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2023-07-03T14:21:53","modified_gmt":"2023-07-03T21:21:53","slug":"empowering-government-agencies-to-create-a-modern-workplace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/government\/2017\/10\/17\/empowering-government-agencies-to-create-a-modern-workplace\/","title":{"rendered":"Empowering government agencies to create a Modern Workplace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week, hundreds of representatives from Federal, State, and Local governments are gathered with Microsoft and our partners in Washington, D.C. for the sixth annual <a href=\"https:\/\/govcloudforum.com\/\">Microsoft Government Cloud Forum<\/a>. We\u2019re here to talk about the unique challenges facing government organizations today, as they strive to enable governmental departments to work better together, more easily share information, derive new insights from data, and drive new efficiencies to solve problems and respond to citizens faster than ever before.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last several years, Microsoft has made significant investments in building <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industries\/government\/check-the-facts-microsoft-gov-cloud-stands-apart\/\">cloud infrastructure specifically for US Government organizations<\/a> to help them meet those goals. Today, I\u2019m pleased to announce several new additions to our roadmap for the US Government, defense industry, aerospace companies, and government contractors, including <strong>the availability of Microsoft 365 for all Microsoft US Government environments in the first half of 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft is committed to helping organizations of all types to digitally transform, from small businesses to large enterprises, educational institutions to government agencies. Why? Because the workplace is changing rapidly. By 2020, Millennials will make up more than 50 percent<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/deloitte.wsj.com\/cmo\/2017\/05\/09\/adapting-to-the-future-of-work\/?mg=prod\/accounts-wsj\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"_ftnref1\" rel=\"noopener\">[1]<\/a> <\/sup>of the workforce. By 2022, more than 42 percent<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.strategyanalytics.com\/access-services\/enterprise\/mobile-workforce\/market-data\/report-detail\/global-mobile-workforce-forecast-update-2016-2022#.Wd_XzkxFxTw\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"_ftnref2\" rel=\"noopener\">[2]<\/a><\/sup> of the global workforce will be mobile. And with security threats on the rise, 74 percent of businesses<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/insights.som.yale.edu\/how-do-we-combat-cybercrime\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"_ftnref3\" rel=\"noopener\">[3]<\/a><\/sup> say they expect to be hacked in the next year.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why we created Microsoft 365, which brings together Office 365, Windows 10, and Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS), into a complete, intelligent cloud solution that empowers everyone to be creative and work together, securely. I am also excited to announce that <strong>in 2018, Microsoft Teams will be available in Microsoft 365 for US Government.<\/strong> Teams brings together conversations, meetings, files, Office apps, and third-party integrations to provide a single hub for teamwork. We\u2019ll also be adding more new tools in Microsoft 365, including Microsoft Planner, which helps teams stay organized around projects, as well as Microsoft PowerApps and Microsoft Flow, which people can use to create automated workflows or build custom apps to drive end-to-end productivity.<\/p>\n<p>During the Government Cloud Forum, I\u2019ll be joined onstage by Maria Roat, CIO of the Small Business Administration (SBA), who will share her insights about how SBA uses Office 365 for US Government to enable intelligent productivity and secure collaboration. SBA is planning to adopt all of Microsoft 365 to drive cost savings across mobility, security, and collaboration tool sets while delivering a consistent and modern experience across SBA\u2019s geographically dispersed employee base. The use of technology empowers SBA to achieve its core mission: to help Americans start, build, and grow businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Our government cloud infrastructure adheres to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/trustcenter\/about\/trust-center-overview\">the highest standards of privacy, security, and regulatory compliance<\/a>. We prioritize data privacy for all our customers, ensuring nobody can use their data in ways they don\u2019t approve. Accessibility is also built in, so our government customers can create a sense of inclusiveness, not just between employees but between the government and its citizens. At the highest level, <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.microsoft.com\/en-us\/articles\/industries\/citynext\/empowering-people-with-disabilities-through-digital-accessibility-and-inclusion\/\">Microsoft follows US Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines<\/a> when building our products and services to help ensure we\u2019ve incorporated digital accessibility into all our designs.<\/p>\n<p>At Microsoft, we\u2019re continually investing in our services for government to help drive digital transformation that will enable government agencies to provide all the hallmarks of a modern workplace without sacrificing security or incurring the high infrastructure and software costs and inefficiencies of a traditional IT environment.
