Most of us focus on \u2018Today\u2019: on the meetings we will be having, the e-mails we will respond to and the quotations we need to send out while deadlines are breathing down our neck. And we should. The \u2018Today\u2019 part is what pays our bills. We also think a lot about \u2018Tomorrow\u2019, about our future value and how our company will survive disruption. \u2018Tomorrow\u2019 is what keeps us awake at night. But let\u2019s face it, most of us don\u2019t think (much) beyond that.<\/p>\n

The truly great ones, the giants, those that dictate the market are the ones who dare to envision \u2018The Day After Tomorrow\u2019. Because that is where enormous amounts of long-term value lie. The radical ideas, concepts, notions or inspiration that focus on \u2018The Day After Tomorrow\u2019 are the ones that change entire companies, industries and even the world.<\/p>\n

Artificial Intelligence (AI), the subject of this e-book, will play a huge part in shaping that \u2018Day After Tomorrow\u2019. Many of us are watching its latest developments with great interest. But, if we\u2019re truly honest, a lot of us don\u2019t see the current value for our organizations.\u00a0I think that for most companies AI is no longer of a \u201cfar off future”.<\/p>\n

But we should be. In exponential times like these, emerging trends and developments \u2013 especially in technology \u2013 evolve at breakneck speed and will become \u2018normal\u2019 and pervasive a lot faster than ever before. That\u2019s why, in my book \u2018The Day After Tomorrow\u2019, I caution companies to experiment with radical innovation, however \u2018far out\u2019 these endeavors might seem (to a board and management that mostly want to know how they can create value for \u2018Today\u2019). Because our \u2018Day After \u2018Tomorrow\u2019 will be here a lot sooner than some of us still seem to believe.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I believe companies shouldn\u2019t wait to start experimenting with AI. There are many signs that it is on the verge of a major breakthrough. First of all, thanks to the cloud, we now have the computing power necessary to develop Strong AI (Artificial General Intelligence). That\u2019s a big deal. Practically every day, major discoveries are announced.<\/p>\n

Basically, everything is in place for AI to make that giant leap that will change the face of every possible industry and even of mankind. Don\u2019t wait until it\u2019s too late. Its opportunities are enormous.<\/p>\n
