Buying seat-based offers through the new commerce experience

We’ve shared news about our plans for the new commerce experience to create a better end-to-end experience, and we’ve let you know your options for buying Azure services through the Microsoft Customer Agreement as well as your purchasing options for cloud services. Now, we’re launching the next phase in which Azure will be joined by seat-based offers for Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Windows 365 through our improved commerce experience.

What’s a seat-based offer?

A seat-based offer is a subscription that’s offered “per seat” for one user, regardless of how many devices they’re using, for services offered in the cloud. Those offers through the Microsoft Customer Agreement include:

  • Microsoft 365— A solution that enhances productivity and drives innovation to connect and empower every employee, from the office to the frontline worker.
  • Windows 365—A complete software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that streams a personalized, secure, and scalable Windows experience to any device.
  • Dynamics 365—A portfolio of intelligent business applications that empowers everyone to deliver operational excellence and create more engaging customer experiences.
  • Power Platform—A collection of products that help you build end-to-end business solutions that accelerate business.

How to subscribe to seat-based offers

Enterprise and large corporate customers can purchase Windows 365 monthly subscriptions through the enterprise motion with help from your Microsoft account team (where available). Windows 365 is licensed month-to-month with no long-term commitment required, and you can cancel in any month with no further payment obligation after month end. However, there are prerequisite subscriptions to use Windows 365 Enterprise which should be purchased through an Enterprise Agreement, from a partner in the Cloud Solution Provider program, or through other Microsoft licensing. Small corporate and breadth customers generally purchase through the breadth motion from a partner in the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program. New commerce transactions of all above seat-based offers will be available in October 2021.

Individuals and departments across all customer types, from large to small, can buy Windows 365 online through the self-service motion for individual or departmental purchases.
