Bing Maps Keys
Getting started with Bing Maps is simple.
First, you will need a Bing Maps account and an API key. When you register for an account, you'll create a Bing Maps key to authenticate your application.
To create a key, follow the steps below:
Go to the Bing Maps Dev Center and click “Sign In” to use your existing Microsoft Account. Don’t have a Microsoft account? Create one through the “Sign In” process.

Business and Personal Use
What’s it for?
The Basic Bing Maps key is for use with consumer-facing, education, and non-profit applications as well as for internal commercial Windows or Windows Phone applications that qualify for free use. *See restrictions below.
Basic Key types and parameters
Please see the Enterprise License for business applications used by authenticated enterprise associates and agents.

- Mobile App
Public and internal website, and mobile apps that are not on/for the Windows Phone: Maximum 125,000 cumulative billable transactions per calendar year at no charge
- Windows App
- Education
- Non-profit
Public and private Windows App, Education and Non-profit: Maximum 50,000 cumulative billable transactions within any 24-hour period
- Development/Testing
Applications used by authenticated enterprise users (employees or agents of the enterprise) over a private network.
Maximum 125,000 cumulative billable transactions per calendar year at no charge.

Enterprise License
What’s it for?
The Enterprise key is for consumer applications and internal commercial applications that do not qualify for limited free use.

- Private Windows Phone App
Applications used by authenticated enterprise users (employees or agents of the enterprise) over a private network.
Can exceed 125,000 cumulative billable transactions per calendar year.
- Business Asset Management
Application is used to track, store, query, display or perform calculations using an asset’s GPS position.
