Intelligent mapping for your logistics and transportation solutions
Build advanced logistics and fleet management solutions designed for commercial routing, multi-stop route optimization, vehicle tracking, and more with Bing Maps.
Logistics and Fleet Management
Deploy your own small to medium-sized vehicle tracking solution with the Bing Maps Fleet Tracker, a complete asset tracking solution for smaller fleets. The open-source fleet management solution includes helpful trip detection, geofencing, and email notifications.
Truck Routing API
Commercial vehicles have specific transportation requirements. Oftentimes, using consumer routing services, made for cars and other consumer vehicles, is not the best solution.
Our sophisticated Bing Maps Truck Routing API calculates routes optimized for trucks and commercial vehicles, taking into consideration specific requirements for larger carriers. The routes include information such as route instructions, travel duration, and travel distance. Avoiding low bridges, sharp turns, steep gradients, and following restrictions and permits for hazardous material, you can always ensure a safe and hassle-free ride.
Distance Matrix API
Looking to develop a solution for a traveling salesman or vehicle routing? The Bing Maps Distance Matrix API service assists in calculating travel time and distances in many-to-many scenarios with an optional travel-time histogram. The Distance Matrix API can help answer questions as varied as where a commercial bakery should open their next location to optimize daily deliveries or helping a school district select the most optimal pick-up locations for their fleet of school buses.
The Bing Maps Isochrone API calculates the area that can be traveled to within a specified distance or time and provides a travel time or distance polygon to visualize the shape of that area on a map. This API serves as a great tool when exploring the area that can be reached from a designated starting point within a set time period to optimize planning.
Snap to Road API
GPS points are not always exact. So, we developed the Snap to Road API that converts the GPS points of your assets to a corresponding set of coordinates of the nearest roads. This feature is important when tracking assets, as GPS devices can lose their connection or encounter interference resulting in an incomplete or inaccurate collection of GPS points.
The API takes GPS point data, in the form of latitudes and longitudes, then yields a list of objects that form a route snapped to the roads on a map. To remain more contextually aware of the environment around you, the information returned on the road segments includes the full name of the road and its associated speed limits. Plus, with a maximum number of 100 points per API call, the API can easily support multi-stop route use cases!
Multi-Itinerary Optimization API
Managing many employees, across complicated shifts and, sometimes, in various regions can become tiresome. Bing Maps Multi-Itinerary Optimization (MIO) API, a REST service that automates the process of building itineraries for multiple operators. Whether that be delivery drivers, sales representatives, or consulting professionals, the MIO API can optimize routes among all agents and operators to save travel time and distance.
Microsoft Real Estate Planning
Microsoft Real Estate Planning uses Bing Maps to analyze commute
The real estate and facilities planning team at a regional Microsoft office used Bing Maps Distance Matrix API to perform a quick commute analysis. This helps determine the best location for collocating all of their operations from multiple offices in a metro area to one office location. As a result, the office was able to select a site area that reduced commute times for most of their employees.
