Office apps for the iPad Pro are here, plus a new set of data connectivity features for Excel and Power Query and new intelligent tools and a new add-in for PowerPoint. For business users, Microsoft Graph—the easiest way to call Microsoft APIs—is now generally available, as is enforcing Office 365 identity in Yammer. Compliance updates include Exchange Online Archiving now meeting the SEC Rule 17a-4 requirements and the availability of EU Model Clauses and HIPAA BAA for all Yammer customers. And you can now join these previews: archiving third-party data in Office 365, Office 365 customer security considerations (CSC) workbook and the updated Office 365 modern authentication public preview.

Office 365 Personal, Office 365 Home and Office 365 University updates
Office apps are ready for the iPad Pro—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote are now available for the iPad Pro. The Office apps are optimized for the iPad Pro and they take full advantage of new multitasking features. For example, you can use two apps at once with Split View and quickly open a second app with Slide Over. More features are coming soon.
OneNote updates—embed video and more—Embedded Online Video, a top customer request, was added to OneNote 2016 for Windows desktop. You can now insert YouTube, Vimeo and Office Mix content directly on the OneNote canvas and take notes next to it. More capabilities were added too, including top education and OneNote Online requests, like adding audio recordings and file attachments to your notes.
30 feature updates to Get & Transform in Excel 2016 and Power Query add-in—Check out the new set of features for Get & Transform in Excel 2016 and the Power Query add-in for Excel 2013/2010. The data connectivity updates include support for SharePoint Lists from non-English sites, enhanced support for the Exchange connector, automatic column type detection when importing .xls files via the Excel Workbook connector and many more.
Introducing Designer and Morph in PowerPoint—Take your presentations to the next level with tools that make it simple to build designer-grade layouts and transitions. Designer and Morph are new intelligent tools that automate the creation of slides and presentations. Designer provides design ideas for your images and Morph creates cinematic motion by seamlessly animating between slides.
Share slides with your social network—It’s a snap to share presentations with your social network using Social Share—a Microsoft Garage project. With this add-in to PowerPoint, you can share snapshots of slides or even an entire presentation as a photo album or video.
Office 365 for Business and Education updates*
Office 365 admin updates—New tools, reports and resources help you save time managing Office 365. Take a video tour to learn more and see the latest updates for admins in action, including the new simplified portal design, an early look at upcoming reporting capabilities, updates to the Office 365 Admin app and new PowerShell resources for managing Office 365 and Office 2016 deployment.
A new Skype for Business look for Lync Room Systems—A cumulative update is rolling out to all existing Crestron, Polycom and SMART Lync Room Systems, updating the user interface (UI) and branding to Skype for Business and adding new Private settings. The update doesn’t change the functionality, but users will see a sleeker, darker design that’s attuned to large-screen viewing.
Update to Power Pivot in Excel 2013—This update delivers a better experience when using Power Query with Power Pivot. For data in Power Pivot that was added through Power Query, the following operations can now only be done through Power Query (which resolves conflicts previously seen in Power Pivot): edit table properties, column-level changes and table-level changes. The update also includes support for key performance indicators (KPIs).

Introducing Microsoft Graph—The easiest way to call Microsoft APIs is now generally available. Microsoft Graph enables corporate IT admins to rapidly build solutions for employees, developers to build inline social experiences and partners to customize their Office experience and extend their apps with Office 365 data. Because Microsoft Graph allows applications to access digital work and life data across the intelligent Microsoft cloud, it provides developers big advantages not available before.
Enforcing Office 365 identity in Yammer now available—For a year now, you’ve been able to sign in to Yammer using your Office 365 credentials. Now, by using a new feature that supports enforcement of Office 365 identity in Yammer and configuring federated identity in Office 365, admins can achieve single sign-on (SSO) capabilities for all services in Office 365, including Yammer.
Archiving third-party data in Office 365 now available in preview—The preview for archiving third-party data in Office 365 is now available worldwide to all Office 365 commercial customers. This capability extends the rich, unlimited archiving capabilities provided for email, documents in SharePoint and OneDrive for Business and Skype for Business meetings and conversations.
Updated Office 365 modern authentication public preview—So many improvements were made to the Office 2013 modern authentication public preview that it was renamed the “Office 365 modern authentication public preview.” Read this post to get a summary of the updates (like the use of Office 365 modern authentication now on by default in Office 2016); find out what modern authentication is and learn how to start using it.
Outlook Groups now supports 11 new languages and more—The Outlook Groups mobile app lets you engage with your team on your mobile device. In addition to support for 11 more languages, new features have been added to the app, including the ability to create new Office 365 Groups, add and remove members and owners of existing groups and view a person’s profile card. Download the app.
EU Model Clauses and HIPAA BAA update now available for all Yammer customers—All Yammer customers can now obtain: a data processing agreement with the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses for data processors (known as the “EU Model Clauses”) and also the standard HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (HIPAA BAA) for Microsoft enterprise online services.
Announcing Office 365 customer security considerations workbook preview—The customer security considerations (CSC) workbook is now in preview. It’s designed to provide information on key security and compliance features to consider when adopting, deploying and managing Office 365. You can use the workbook to facilitate a quick review and implementation of the security controls in Office 365.

Monthly Dev digest—Read the digest to stay up to date with the latest dev news. Highlights for November include the announcement of the general availability of Microsoft Graph and an invitation to explore the production-ready APIs, experiment with the new APIs introduced into Preview, watch great content published on the Connect(); Channel 9 site and check out results of November hackathon events.
