Hybrid work is work performed in-person in a physical location, remotely online, and in different time zones. Collaboration occurs in real time and asynchronously to accommodate flexible work schedules and styles.

Working from home is just one form of hybrid work as you are technically working online from a remote location and could potentially join a meeting with a group of people who are together in a conference room or office and in other locations. You could also collaborate online at a different time by contributing your thoughts and ideas when you are working. For example, a group working collectively on a project whiteboard at different times and from different places using Microsoft Whiteboard.

Hybrid work is enabled by a combination of elements such as modern communications including the internet and cellular networks, personal and meetings devices such as PCs, mobile devices, speakerphones, and cameras, and an app that brings it all together such as Microsoft Teams to enable people in different places to communicate and collaborate at any time.

When working from home, working remotely, or in a hybrid setting, you just need an internet or cellular connection, a device such as a PC, mobile device, or speakerphone with a display, and an app such as Microsoft Teams. The simplest way to get started is to view the list of tips found here.

Participating in an online hybrid meeting is easy. You just need a device with an online meetings app such as Microsoft Teams. When you’re invited to a hybrid meeting, join using your PC, tablet, or mobile device at the predetermined time. Learn more from a guide to hybrid and remote meetings.
