HCM-CALC implements the uninterrupted-flow analysis methodologies of the Transportation Research Board’s Highway Capacity Manual, 5th and 6th editions. Specifically, it covers basic freeway segments, weaving segments, merge segments, diverge segments, multilane highway segments, two lane highway segments, and freeway facilities. The software performs level of service and service volume calculations and includes formatted reports for printing. About the Developer: Scott S. Washburn, Ph.D., P.E., is an expert in traffic flow theory, traffic operations analysis, traffic simulation model development, development of traffic analysis and level of service computational methodologies and complementary software tools. Dr. Washburn is also Professor in the Department of Civil and Coastal Engineering at the University of Florida. Dr. Washburn is a former member of the Transportation Research Board's Highway Capacity and Quality of Service Committee (which develops the Highway Capacity Manual), and past chair of the Freeway/Multilane Highway and User Liaison subcommittees.
