As someone who grew up in the nineties, I can count myself fortunate as being able to have played both the Original Playstation 1 version (as well as the N64 AND GameCube versions) before playing the Remake. I was 9 when RE2 came out and it was the first game I got to play on my Brand-Spankin' new PS1, and it scared the ever-living S%@& out of me. I am happy to say that the remake more than lives up to its predecesor's standard. With one of THE BEST lighting systems i've seen in any game to-date, and destructible character models .. RE2 has more than proved itself to be visceral and atmospheric. Taking liberties only when needed to provide a fresh experience for both veterans and newbies alike, an AI Director that provides tough-but-fair gameplay .. the only thing that mechanically sets it apart from the original, in terms of "feel", is the control scheme. Two Decades later, Capcom finally got it together. 10/10 - "4 Itchy Tasty"

This game looks great. The third person camera and aiming give it a different feel that makes the game tougher, in a good way. Mr. X heavily revitalizes the gameplay by chasing you with so much determination that you can no longer move around slowly and quietly. Forces you to decide between only him being after you and probably killing you or running away from him but drawing the attention of every zombie/mutant around you. I would have made it so that you can only use the map in save rooms (harder difficulties?) to make the game tougher and scarier still. Also, Leon and Claire should have had their own storylines and interacted more. The music wasn't that good. Switched to original music. Much better.

Completed the game a few times. Really enjoyed this one! Game stays loyal to it's 1998 fans. Love the 2 main characters, they represent the original ones very well ^_^ overall 9/10! This is a must play for any RE fans.

This game was amazing, at my time of playing back in april i had never played a resident evil game in my life and since then i've play many of the other games. The gameplay is great, zombies scary, and story enthraling the only reason im writing this review is because borderlands 3 just came out a game i had been looking forward to for years and while i loved it and intend to play it for a long time it didint beat resident evil 2 for my game of the year so far. Resident evil 2 made "ME" a guy who hates all things horror love horror games. "Update" It is now the end of the year day after the game awards and while RE2 didn't win any of the things it was nominated for it is my pick for both best art direction and game of the year as well as a close second for audio design.

I have beaten the game about 5-6 times now and I can say, worth the money 100% If you like puzzles (not that hard) strategic management of inventory and ammo (basically old RE gameplay) get it! I only give it 4 stars because of a questionable story moment and the voice acting (Voice acting treats it like a 90s action movie) But its basically RE2 with updated Graphics, Camera angles, and gameplay. The Darkness is amazing aswell but you have to turn off HDR to fully tinker with it in the game settings. Please get it if you love horror and paitcent gameplay or want something new, Capcom blew it out of the water this time and need to be commended for it! Any more questions message me, Ill give you the truth straight up.

This is the only game in YEARS that I keep wanting to play even after getting the achievements. Personally, I feel achievements/trophies have ruined a part of gaming for me because I feel like I'm "wasting my time" playing a game when I've already unlocked my achievement goals. RE2 finally broke that trend for me. That's how good it is. Unbelievable replay value.
