The fast pace and high speed runs are gone in this game. Level layout sucks and Sonic moves way slower than old games. couldn't even force myself to finish the game. Don't waste your money.

The game itself is alright. The controls are a bit wonky, but you get used to them. WARNING: Only get the chaos emeralds if you're completing the game 100% The Special stages get ungodly hard and can be very time consuming. Aside from that, the game is good for people looking to do a casual playthrough.

I can honestly say that I am seriously disappointed with Team Sonic Sonic the Hedgehog 4 doesn't even feel original and that really fast paced movement that I liked so much from the first Sonic the Hedgehog is not even present in this game it went from fast paced to extremely slow paced not only that this game has very bad level design I didn't even bother finishing it that's how bad it is for those who are reading this review please do not waste your time getting this game move away from it you're better off with the classics instead of this piece of crap I couldn't even past half the levels because they are way too hard and confusing so I decided to uninstall this game most likely I will never play this game ever again even Sonic Mania or Sonic Lost World is even better than this game 😑 come on team Sonic you can do way better than this bring back what we liked from the classics I guarantee you'll get better ratings 😑👎

This game was terrible. It borrows too much from Sonic 2. The episodic format just didn't work out for this game. I'd have rather had a more competent game from Christen Whitehead than this abomination that Sega put out. The level design is just bad, and much of it is ripped off from Sonic 2, as I said. Which would be fine, if this were a tribute game like Sonic Mania, where it's expected, but this is supposed to be the next chapter in the classic Sonic series. The graphics also didn't match the aesthetic that they were trying to pull off. If feels too much like shoehorned Sonic Generations levels with modern Sonic. There are also a number of bugs in the game, and the overall game design feels very sloppy. All in all, not recommended. Buy Sonic Mania, the true Sonic 4, instead.
