Review title of ImaniHighly Disappointed
My charger finally broke after 2 years so I went to get a new one. I used the new one less than 10 times because I have other laptops. In less than 7 weeks it is already broken. It has a short in it. I can’t even return it because it’s after 30 days. Highly disappointed because its $75 and didn’t even last 2 months. And yes I cared for the charger correctly!
Review title of ChrisBuilt to fail, so you can buy a replacement!
The charger is fine, and charges my surface pro relatively quickly, but I have yet to have a cable last even nine months. I'm about to purchase cable number four, and at the absolutely horrendous cost of $80 (seriously? For some wires, simple circuits, and some plastic? This cost you less than $5 to make.) I think it is perfectly reasonable to expect it to last as long as the computer. A computer that costs over $1000 should include a reliable charging cable, and the surface line doesn't.
Review title of JenniferGo to Amazon instead
I needed a replacement cord for my Surface (lost it so there was no issue with the original). After reading all of these horrible reviews and seeing the outrageous price I went to Amazon. I got a terrific product for a third of the price that came with a carrying case, velcro straps for the cords (so you can avoid that fraying issue), and a one year warranty. Really Microsoft do better.
Review title of TonishaANOTHER $80 WASTED!!!
Got this charger in July Brand New. haven't used it more than 5 times and now its broken. No wires are showing or anything of that nature. This charger is the built to break. Another $80 wasted, should at least offer a discount if we return the broken chargers orsometime. Geez, I feel I am being ripped off!!!!!!!!!
Review title of CassandraOne Month Later, Already Broken
I bought this on January 1st, 2019 to replace one that stopped working after less than a year. This new one has already stopped working in one month. I'm not sure how Microsoft can get away with selling such a faulty product, especially for $80. The quality is worth, like, $5 max.
Review title of RainBuyer Beware
This charger is only 5 months old, in perfect physical condition. It stopped working. It’s garbage. Microsoft should recall and provide free replacements. Many people have had the same issues. I will never buy a microsoft device again.
Review title of CarolSurface Charger Sucks
This charger is not a good design. I noticed it immediately. When the Surface is open the charger cord bends right at the top of the charger. It is too steep of a bend I found no way to stop that. I was right it no longer works beginning today Sadly, I have to buy another useless thing or throw the Surface out.
Review title of BarbaraCharger - Plan on buying 2-3 each year
My first charger lasted about a year. Since then, all have lasted about 3 - 6 months -- so, after 3 years, I am now ordering my 8th cord. Where it attaches to the Surface, the wire cover disconnects from the plug-in piece. You'll get sparks first, as the wires cross, then, soon after, it will short out. REALLY a POOR DESIGN. If you use your computer on a hard stable surface, it probably works better, but then, it would be a desktop. The surface is close to being the perfect lap device, but still needs some work - the power cord (and the touchpad on the keyboard also fails in time without support from the keyboard's backside) A few more generations and hopefully these issues will be taken care of . . . till then, plan on buying 2 - 3 chargers/year.
Review title of LerlaFrustrating Power Cord
I can't believe Microsoft allows these negative comments to continue and not try to improve the design on this cord. This is so frustrating, having to buy a power cord once a year at a price of $80.00. Microsoft should be giving it free since it is their poor design that is the problem and not how it is used.
Review title of YVESDOES MICROSOFT WANT US TO SWITCH TO APPLE?
A FANTASTIC MACHINE WRECKED BY A CHEAP PART: THE POWER SUPPPLY! IT LASTS NO MORE THAN 3 MONTHS. THIS HAS BEEN THE RATE OF CHANGE OVER THE PAST 18 MONTHS FOR A SURFACE PRO. HOW COMPLICATED WOULD THAT BE TO DO A POWER SUPPLY LIKE APPLE DOES? DOES MICROSOFT WANT ALL OF US TO SWITCH TO APPLE JUST BECAUS OF THE POWER SUPPLY? THE MACHINE IS FANTASTIC AND WORKS VERY WELL, WHEN THERE IS POWER IN IT. CHANGE THE DESIGN OF THIS POWER SUPPLY: MAKE IT AS SIMPLE AS APPLE DOES: A PLUG AND A WIRE!
