TandemWalk scores tickers in near real time (updated every five minutes) as to how much new information there probably is about them. The bigger the score, the more newsworthy the ticker. This is done by taking advantage of the fact that the market is so correlated that one can have a pretty good idea what the price should be at any given minute by checking similar tickers. If there is much difference, then we display that ticker, with an indication of that difference as a score. Typical scores might be a score of two or three for an analyst's upgrade or score minus two or minus three for a downgrade. And from there, the larger the news, the bigger the score. The date provided is when the ticker first started moving in a way that it was clear new information was available for that ticker in the last week. You can spot "knowledgeable trading" as well as see what the overall consensus is for those tickers that are scheduled to release news (such as quarterlies) by comparing this date/time to the actual time the information is released.
