Played time trial and I am very surprised. I did not think I would like it. The idea, look from review videos, and negativity about it made this seem like a pass. There's so much I enjoyed and didn't expect. It's a lot of ridiculous fun. This game is what I had once came to expect from Sega. Running like a hedgehog, I mean an elephant bull, smashing up everything is a blast. The touch of Metal Slug sorta themed look to it all had me laughing at times but also feeling like playing Chuck Norris incarnated in an Elephant that thinks it's the Incredible Hulk. Many effects weren't expected and you can do quite a bit using just three buttons. Load time, at least starting, really is ridiculous and I hope later levels don't lose the shine nor become tedious. I will update this if that is so to me. This game stands out far above the many games it looks like it would be. Buying this now.

Tembo the ****** Elephant is the best 2D platformer I've played on Xbox, the best since Hell Yeah!, another Sega-published property. The last time Game Freak and Sega got together, it was for a Megadrive/Genesis platformer! The cartoon visuals are breathtaking, the attention to silly details is astounding, and the artists have a great style which is hard to resist. There's a few minor quibbles: the game encourages a completionist mindset (doing levels perfectly), it takes forever to boot up, and the sound levels need adjusting from their defaults. A couple of the levels had music that reminded me of Pokémon :) If you've suffered from lame "indie" platformers that sucked the childlike joy you or your kids have, Tembo will bring joy to you. One part Rambo, one part Dumbo, make one mighty Tembo. Best "pure" 2D platformer (no lamebrained story clickfests here, you get to use your imagination based on a few images) on this generation of consoles. *SEGA SCREAM*

Review title of Random Guy 90Limited lives wrecks it for me

This game is initially very fun to play, but the difficulty ramps quickly, sapping the great fun from very early in the game. Your character is a huge elephant that smashes thru things, but not after long you have to be really, really careful with your elephant or you will fall to your death...a lot. You can't even hardly run with him anymore, so many cheap deaths abound. And the limited lives is a turn-off. You don't lose your entire game when you lose all your lives, just your progress in a level, and you can grind the first level a bunch to get more...but what a pain. Know that I only made it about a 3rd of the way thru the game, I don't even fully know how much harder it gets. If you're looking to buy, know that it gets hard fast.

Review title of Chipotle333Solid gameplay but forces you to replay levels

This is a really solid platformer that is unfortunately treated like a mobile game (w/o microtrans). I had a lot of fun with this right up until they tried to make me replay levels to proceed. The animation and feel of this reminds me of Gamecube era Viewtiful Joe. Really could have benefitted from a classic approach instead of point based. Theyre just trying to artificially extend the playtime because they only developed three worlds as can be seen from the tiny play map.

Review title of Not RoyaltyMy Initial Impressions

Currently, I am nearly done with the 4th mission, and I'm tempted to drop the game already. CONTROLS: The game drops you into a tutorial to start off with, quickly tells you ALL of the combos, and never revisits the subject. While they aren't complex, this still resulted in me forgetting half of the combos by the time I started the first mission. GAMEPLAY: The entire game feels off due to the weight of the character. It feels like an eternity to execute and recover from attacks, and simply moving feels sluggish. This is also mixed in with small fast moving enemies/attacks (Which the game doesn't prepare you for in the "tutorial") and poor hitboxes, making the game VERY frustrating. The camera is too close and will punish you if you attempt to move fast with the charge attack, as well as obscure other paths so you can't tell where to get collectibles. Limited lives force you to play like it's a platformer, instead of being able to rush in blind like the 2d action game it claims to be
