Description

Hanwell, once a safe haven from the horrors of the world, now a cesspit of anomalous scum. Explore a dense open world of terror, every building a unique location with its own story to tell. Strung together by the remnants of Hanwell. There is something deeply unsettling about Hanwell. Unexplained noises, something in the corner of your eye or laying just beyond the shadows create an atmosphere that will keep you constantly on edge. Monsters roam the streets. They occasionally get into the once protected buildings. What you do with them is up to you, be resourceful and pick up whatever you can find in order to fight them. Or run. And don't look back. There is an entire city to explore, featuring different environments each more distinct than the last. From residential homes, old English pubs, parks, stores, supermarkets and government buildings, all the way to the infamous HCPP research center. Each location holds its own backstory, leading to your arrival. Jump in, turn out the lights and discover the terrifying world of Hanwell.

Review title of V0RHEEZHope You Love The CONSTANT Sound of Alarms...

This game has an interesting story, excellent delivery & great atmosphere with the exception of just one teeny weeny flaw....THE ENEMIES WITHIN THE OPEN-WORLD TOWN!!! I am not complaining about their existence...but more about how CONSTANTLY FREQUENT THEY ARE! Being attacked by combinations of the witches, burners & that f**king thing that makes you blind(unless you use the sonar ping, which can lure EVEN MORE enemies to your location) EVERY TWENTY SECONDS along with the town's alarm constantly going off IS NOT SCARY(or "challenging")...it is ANNOYING! The game offers so much awesome tension & apprehension when exploring interiors, with never knowing what's coming from one moment to the next. Why can't the town have the same feel and give me the same experience? Knowing that I can't go barely ten steps without the alarm going off, being blinded, then being pinballed until I die & respawn is just NOT AS FUN when it happens so randomly & so frequently.

You get what you pay for. Its not bad, actually. But theres one thing that breaks it for me; If your controller disconnects for ANY reason, the game forces you back to the main menu, and youll have to start from your latest checkpoint... Whenever that was. Also there's no options menu. :/

This is a great horror game. You need to have a weapon equipped to fight the anomalies or you can run. They not overwhelming on the map and spawn randomly. The type varies and so far I've seen a burnt woman, spiders, and a witch. There is a big guy but I haven't tried messing with him since he grabs and kills you. The map is huge and filled with all kinds of weapons. Some buildings can be accessed and can contain notes or important items. Plan on dying, the witch can easily kill you if you're not careful. You only lose your equipped weapon when you die and weapons can break. You have a flashlight that you'll value, be careful on over-using it, it will go red and won't be usable for a certain amount of time. There are batteries you can find to help. There is day and night, fog, rain, and calm weather. The story is told through various recorders, tablets, and even notes. There are other items you can hunt down that will reward you once you collect them all. Great job, Devs. Awesome game.

Jumped three times already if first 20 min. Inside maps look amazing. Great lighting, textures, make for a appropriatly tense atmosphere better then most horror games. The out side map looks well and the scall of it deserves respect but fails to capture the magic of the inside map. It is first person view. They have an extreamly well done look over sholder when running away camra that adds to the tense flee down narrow hallway moments. The map needs to zoom out more and the ability to add way markers would be nice. Not sure how i'll feel few hours in but for now im impressed. The game truly looks like the videos . They are not cg. If you like scary creepy games I wouldn't pass this up at this price.

It's not trash, it's $15. You get what you pay for. I find it enjoyable. You're not getting Outlast with this game, but you are getting a $15 dollar horror game with bad animation, decent graphics for $15 dollars and jump scares. Don't complain if you watch gameplay and still buy it.

A bug prevents me from going through the doorway right next to the portable radio. This happens immediately after leaving underground tutorial area. UPDATE: I managed to get past the doorway by picking up a weapon next to the radio, which created a weapon tutorial popup. This threw me for a loop because I had already picked up an axe a few feet away. The idea that the weapon tutorial was tied to a specific weapon different from the one I had just picked up hadn't occured to me, nor had the idea that this invisible wall would be opened by a tooltip. Having played the game, the enemies, especially the shrieking one, tend to be more annoying than scary.

Review title of BarcnoriNice horror game at a decent price

It is great game if you're a fan of horror. The ambience of the town is spot on creepy along with the interior sections. However it not a great game in the regards of polish but not to the point the game is unbearable. If you're not sprinting you sort of lurch around so movement isn't smooth. Combat is a tad clunky but decent. The game does sorely need a subtitles option though. There are a lot of audio items and subtitles would be a boon. Still this is a budget game and $15 isn't too shabby if you're trying to scratch that horror itch.
