This week, we are highlighting how VITAS Healthcare has been using Power Platform and Microsoft Teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitas.com\/\">VITAS Healthcare<\/a> is nation&#8217;s largest single-source provider of end-of-life care delivering meaningful hospice and palliative care to its patients and their families across 14 states and the District of Columbia. VITAS has used a Power Platform solution called \u201cEmmy<strong>\u201d to process 2 million patient visits<\/strong> \u2013 equivalent to <strong>92% of all patient visits<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, VITAS proudly delivers specialized care through an interdisciplinary group (IDG) of approximately 12,000 physicians, nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers. They work together to provide comfort-focused medical care and psychosocial support to more than 19,000 patients and their families.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emmy\u2014named in honor of VITAS\u2019 first hospice patient\u2014is a suite of Power Apps canvas applications nested in Teams that allows\u202fclinicians and\u202fmanagers to better manage support care coordination,\u202fprovide continuity of care, and&nbsp;to have <strong>real-time feedback<\/strong> with their teammates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emmy is now the central tool for managing clinician schedules and patient care coordination. VITAS team managers are no longer dependent on\u202fusing disparate tools or manual processes\u202fto manage the schedules of\u202f<strong>7,000 clinicians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/vitas-infographic-1-1024x575.webp\" alt=\"graphical user interface, application, Teams\" class=\"wp-image-22425 webp-format\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/vitas-infographic-1-1024x575.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/vitas-infographic-1-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/vitas-infographic-1-768x431.webp 768w, https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/vitas-infographic-1.webp 1399w\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/vitas-infographic-1-1024x575.webp\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Power Platform solution\u202foffers\u202fthe patient care team several benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Real-time visibility into schedule changes, visit completion, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Allow\u202fteam managers to focus on complex clinical care,\u202fprovide\u202fmentorship and training to their\u202fclinicians, and better support patients\u202fand families.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Allows the care teams\u202fto\u202fsafely\u202fcontinue interdisciplinary group meetings virtually\u2014especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-list-item\">Dramatically reduced the paperwork associated with these meetings.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vitas believes that despite the significant success with Emmy, they&#8217;ve &#8220;barely scratched the surface&#8221; with Microsoft Power Platform and are looking forward to doing more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"creating-efficiencies-in-the-healthcare-industry-on-a-national-level-to-reduce-costs-by-even-2-or-3-percent-translates-into-billions-of-dollars-in-savings-developing-solutions-like-emmy-with-microsoft-technologies-is-a-step-in-the-right-direction-to-reform-the-way-we-care-for-terminally-and-chronically-ill-patients\"><em>\u201cCreating efficiencies in the healthcare industry on a national level to reduce costs by even 2 or 3 percent translates into billions of dollars in savings.
