pgtitle_phd-ss2011The PhD Summer School is an annual event organised at Microsoft Research Cambridge in relation to the Microsoft Research PhD Scholarship Programme.

The seventh Microsoft Research Summer School took place at Microsoft Research in Cambridge, U.K., from 2 July to 6 July 2012. It included a series of talks of academic interest, transferable skills talks, and poster sessions that gave invited students the opportunity to present their work to Microsoft researchers. For the first time, Cambridge researchers presented demos of their work during a special DemoFest session.

Invited students included PhD students in their first or second year from universities and research institutions with which Microsoft Research partners and all Microsoft Research Scholars.

Lectures and posters sessions were public and open to all research staff and students from the University of Cambridge.

About the Microsoft Research PhD Scholarship Programme

The Microsoft Research PhD Scholarship Programme was incubated in 2004 in order to support research collaborations between academics in the EMEA (Europe Middle East Africa) region with Microsoft researchers in the Cambridge Lab. Currently, there are about 100 active students working at Universities and research organisations across the whole region on peer-reviewed projects and in collaboration with their Microsoft Research Cambridge co-supervisors.
