The ideal candidate is skilled at managing independent researchers and engineers and making their contributions visible to upper management, knows how to grow a team in a way that enhances diversity and maintains an inclusive and collaborative culture, is comfortable managing a team that spans multiple time zones and different work preferences in a physical/virtual hybrid work environment, is quick to learn and adapt, and has the ability to develop an original research agenda. Successful candidates will be expected to manage team members in support of their career goals; interact closely with Microsoft’s product groups; transform research ideas into concrete systems; and report on their findings at top technical venues. Required Qualifications: 

  • PhD or tenured position in computer science, or a related field
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed CS conferences/journals, including at least one publication in ASPLOS, EuroSys, FAST, HPCA, ISCA, MICRO, NSDI, OSDI, PLDI, POPL, S&P, SIGCOMM, SIGMETRICS, SIGMOD, SOSP, USENIX ATC, USENIX Security, or VLDB.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated leadership in research
  • Significant participation and activity in the scientific community on program committees, editorial boards, etc.
