Jonathan has been a member of the Xbox Research team since 2016. They have led research on franchises including State of Decay, Ori, and Crackdown, while also running the team’s competitive research program. Their background is in Neuroscience, with an emphasis on interactions between stress, dysphoria, and reward; and their work has been published in the Journal of Neuroscience, Biological Psychiatry, Neuropsychopharmacology, and IEEE Transactions on Haptics. In games, they are constantly on the hunt for ways to improve our understanding of the audience and ways to broaden and expand it.
Jonathan has a BA in Religious Studies from Macalester College, a BS in Neuroscience from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Washington. They use both he/him and they/them pronouns.
