Portrait of Jonathan Clark

Jonathan Clark

Senior Scientist

I work on modeling and optimization for neural and statistical machine translation at Microsoft Research. Our group maintains the translation systems behind Skype Translator, Bing Translator, and other Microsoft Translator apps (Android, iOS, etc.). You can see and try our group’s work at https://www.bing.com/translator/.

Broadly, my research interests are machine learning (recently, deep learning), machine translation, speech recognition, and natural language processing. I prefer practical solutions to the complex, focusing on real-world problems.

I completed a Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University and I joined Microsoft Research in 2013.
