Lili Cheng

Corporate Vice President and Distinguished Engineer

About

Lili Cheng is a Corporate Vice President of the Microsoft AI and Research division, responsible for the AI developer platform which includes:

Cognitive Services—a collection of powerful cognitive AI APIs for vision, speech, language understanding, knowledge and search, which enables developers to easily add AI to their apps and services.

Bot Framework makes it easy for developers to build and connect intelligent conversational AI to their customer experiences, and deploy these in their own custom UI as well as embedded in Skype, Microsoft Teams, Cortana, Bing as well as Facebook, Slack, etc.

This builds upon tools for deep learning using the Cognitive Toolkit and Azure virtual machines, providing a comprehensive data and analytics platform.

Prior to Microsoft, Lili worked in Apple Computer’s Advanced Technology Group on the user interface research team where she focused on QuickTime Conferencing and QuickTime VR. Lili is also a registered architect, having worked in Tokyo and Los Angeles for Nihon Sekkei and Skidmore Owings and Merrill on commercial urban design and large-scale building projects. She has also taught at New York University and Harvard University.
