About

Roland works as an AI researcher in the Deep Learning group of Microsoft Research AI.  He is also a director/instructor at the Microsoft AI School.  His research interests include Reinforcement Learning, Sensorimotor Learning, and Lifelong Learning (for agents). 

Before coming to the Deep Learning group, Roland worked in the VIBE group of Microsoft Research on Information Visualization and Human-Computer Interaction projects, most notably the SandDance project.  Before joining MSR, Roland worked in the areas of Natural User Interfaces, Programmer Tools, Operating Systems, and Databases.
