About

I have been at Microsoft Corp since Nov 1997 and have been with several groups within Microsoft such as the Development Division, Windows CE and now with Redmond Research.

My primary duties with the Advanced Development team is to Test Projects by Microsoft Researchers. I also perform several duties such as; Team Lab, Source File Control, SQL Development and Administration, Test Sharepoint and Test Tools Development using C#.

I work really close with both internal and external teams within Microsoft and sometimes with external Microsoft customers using our technology. I believe in providing the best experience to any Microsoft customer and treat them how I would like to be treated as a customer.

Currently, I am leading my own research test project “Microsoft Research Automation Tool” (MSRat). The idea behind this tool, is to allow testers to record mouse, keyboard and touch inputs on Windows 8 Modern UI applications. The tool will then generate the C# code necessary for the test to be executed at any time, either by itself or as part of a suite.

Microsoft Research Data Visualization Apps for Office

Established: February 6, 2013

This project has now been concluded, and the apps have been deprecated. Thank you for your feedback! At Microsoft Research, we want to let users play with new types of visualizations. We’re doing it with Apps for Office, a new feature for Office 2013 and Office 365. These let users easily add new functionality to Office. You can see some of how the system worked in this handy guide. This is a Research Deployment We have released…

Cliplets: Juxtaposing Still and Dynamic Imagery

Established: March 6, 2012

What Are Cliplets?      Microsoft Research Cliplets is an interactive app that uses semi-automated methods to give users the power to create "Cliplets" - a type of imagery that sits between stills and video from handheld videos. The app provides a creative lens one can use to focus on important aspects of a moment by mixing static and dynamic elements from a video clip. Please see the BLINK and BLINK Cliplets page for more information about the…

GreenUp

Established: June 14, 2011

The GreenUp project provides a comprehensive energy/sleep monitoring and seamless wake up solution for a corporate network environment. Machines can be allowed to aggressively go to sleep safe in the knowledge that they can be seamlessly woken on-demand whenever they are accessed. By allowing machines to sleep more often significant energy savings can be achieved. Energy savings and usage can be readily monitored on the client as well as via a central database. How does…

Kinect for Windows SDK Beta

Established: April 15, 2011

The Kinect for Windows SDK beta, created by Microsoft Research, was a programming toolkit for application developers. It enabled easy access to the capabilities offered by the Microsoft Kinect device connected to computers running the Windows 7 operating system. The Kinect for Windows SDK beta included drivers, rich APIs for raw sensor streams and natural user interfaces, installation documents, and resource materials. It provided Kinect capabilities to developers who build applications with…

Detection of JavaScript-based Malware

Established: December 8, 2008

Nozzle: Runtime heap spray detector Nozzle is a runtime monitoring infrastructure that detects attempts by attackers to spray the heap. Nozzle uses lightweight emulation techniques to detect the presence of objects that contain executable code. To reduce false positives, we developed a notion of global “heap health”. The Nozzle lightweight emulator scans heap allocated object data to identify valid x86 code sequences, disassembling the code and building a control flow graph. Because the attack jump target…

Image Composite Editor

Established: December 3, 2008

What is Image Composite Editor? Image Composite Editor (ICE) is an advanced panoramic image stitcher created by the Microsoft Research Interactive Visual Media Group. Given a set of overlapping photographs of a scene shot from a single camera location, the app creates a high-resolution panorama that seamlessly combines the original images. ICE can also create a panorama from a panning video, including stop-motion action overlaid on the background. Finished panoramas can be shared with friends…

WorldWide Telescope

Established: April 2, 2002

WorldWide Telescope (WWT) is a virtual telescope to astronomers, a virtual observatory of the Earth to geo-researchers, and an interactive teaching and learning tool to science educators. Since its initial release in late 2006, WWT has become an integral part of many scientists’ research platform and an indispensable curriculum companion for many science teachers worldwide. The WWT project is a collaborative effort between Microsoft Research and a variety of academic and governmental agencies. Microsoft Research is…
