Scarlet Schwiderski-Grosche



Dr Scarlet Schwiderski-Grosche is a Director at Microsoft Research Cambridge. She drives strategic research partnerships with academic institutions in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region, including the Swiss Joint Research Center with EPFL and ETH Zurich in Switzerland and the Inria Joint Center with Inria in France. Moreover, Scarlet leads academic collaborations around optical storage and networking for Microsoft Research’s Optics for the Cloud including the Optics for the Cloud Research Alliance.

Scarlet has ten years’ experience driving collaborations with academia and industry around cutting-edge and highly interdisciplinary research projects and has managed a multitude of academic programs including the EMEA PhD Scholarship Programme and the EMEA PhD Summer Schools.

Before joining Microsoft in 2009, Scarlet was faculty in the Information Security Group at Royal Holloway, University of London and postdoctoral researcher at Fraunhofer (Germany), focusing her research and teaching on event processing in distributed systems, mobile security, electronic and mobile payment systems, and biometrics.

Scarlet has a PhD in Computer Science from University of Cambridge and is a Computer Science graduate (Diplom-Informatikerin) of TU Braunschweig (Germany).
