Take Socl for a Spin
As you may know, Socl began as an experiment in social search for students and learning. Over the past several months, we’ve watched Socl evolve into a place where people connect over shared interests expressed through beautiful post collages.
We appreciate your continued feedback, which is helping us to gain more insight every day and improve how we can all communicate, learn, and share our everyday lives. We’ve been busy redesigning Socl to match how you’re using it, and starting today, we’d like you to give the new Socl a spin and let us know what you think.
Here are a few changes you’ll notice right away:
- Posts. Viewing the rapid feed on Socl is faster and better. The home screen is all about the beautiful posts you create (often in just seconds, using the new post creator!). You can choose to see the posts in two columns or three, so it’s less likely you’ll miss out on anything. And now you can see the posts even if you are not signed in or are new to Socl.
- Interests. The crowdsourced interest gallery is more discoverable, helping you socialize with like-minded people over topics you care about.
- People/Me. People finding and following can be done via posts, the new people gallery, or from a person’s page. Everyone on Socl has an updated page where profile information, posts, interests, people, and parties can be viewed together in one place. Check out your “me page” today, or if you’re new to Socl, sign in, and we’ll create a page for you.
- Parties. Create a playlist, watch videos with others in Socl, and chat together as you watch.
For the students in the crowd, check out the student research program, providing you with extra tutorials and tools. For the geeks in the crowd, we’ve built Socl using TypeScript, which helps us code and experiment more quickly.
We hope you love the changes. Please take a look, keep letting us what you think, and have fun.
