The Microsoft Research Economics Group holds an annual conference of varying themes. Previous years have covered market design, machine learning-based econometrics, and economics at tech companies.\u00a0The 2018 Digital Economics Conference will be held in Washington, DC and focus on the social impacts of technology in four important areas: financial tech, health, news, and politics. Each panel will have one paper highlighting the potentially transformative benefits of technology and another highlighting potential dangers. Panelists will include academics and others from more applied backgrounds to dive deeper into each topic.\u00a0We will also have a keynote on transportation technology from Michael Schwarz (Chief Economist of Microsoft).<\/p>\n
