excited to welcome a Summer 2025 HCI intern with an interest in Behavioral Science to join our team to explore opportunities around Generative AI and meeting goals, with the aim of improving the intentionality of workplace meetings.

We are passionate about addressing the challenges of ineffective meetings and unclear meeting goals, and designing systems that can adapt to the diverse goal needs of global organizations. Topics of interest for this internship include the role of Generative AI systems in eliciting and clarifying meeting goals, cultural differences in perceptions of meeting goals and effectiveness, and HCI/design considerations for Generative AI systems that support meeting intentionality.

This is a Joint Experiences+Devices and MSR internship, which means that the intern will be co-mentored by researchers from MSR and a product manager from a Microsoft Teams-related applied science group. This will allow the intern to develop experience in the reality of fitting research to product needs.

The intern must begin the internship before July 2025, and ideally will start during May 2025.

We encourage applications from individuals of all genders and nationalities who are excited about this opportunity. We believe in the power of diverse perspectives and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

This internship will be located onsite at Microsoft Cambridge, UK. A successful applicant will receive visa support if required. A remote internship is not possible in this instance.

Apply or ask questions

Details and application forms are at Microsoft Careers (opens in new tab).

Contact Sean Rintel or Lev Tankelevitch with any questions.

Prior meeting goals research with interns

Coming soon: CHI2025 accepted paper

Mental Models of Meeting Goals: Supporting Intentionality in Meeting Technologies – Microsoft Research

The CoExplorer Technology Probe: A Generative AI-Powered Adaptive Interface to Support Intentionality in Planning and Running Video Meetings – Microsoft Research

Exploring how to make remote and hybrid telepresence meetings engaging, effective, adaptive, and inclusive.

[13556,13554,13559
268875
["post-483294","msr-project","type-msr-project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","msr-research-area-artificial-intelligence","msr-research-area-human-computer-interaction","msr-research-area-social-sciences","msr-locale-en_us","msr-archive-status-active

428763,432132,215265,215256,168850,168323,168326,168457,168854,168857,168859,940674,940665,953964,971130,973350,1000713,1002048,1016145,1016154,1016253,1024680,1027458,1040949,1096809,1096821,1096842,1112685,1116936,1134757,1137954,1139299,1151497,1162665,699310,794897,729043,728395,722212,720520,719014,718483,706840,795146,697267,640416,636909,636900,633603,579532,168860,876534,940662,938721,935997,935988,927396,898131,894237,876588,168330,876450,857358,851446,841591,826735,826696,824293

636963,841414
916890
654018

648012,655938,764203,940410,954351,994098,1009941,1015200,1025451,1048935,1059168,1065405
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/project/meeting-during-covid-19/

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/project/vroom-telepresence/

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/project/social-devices-2/
The New Future of Work
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers at Microsoft formed a cross-company initiative to coordinate their efforts to understand the impact of remote work and identifying opportunities to support new work practices.
