However, the state-of-the-art image contour<br \/>\ndetection algorithms are very computationally intensive, and<br \/>\nthus impractical for web-scale applications. In this work, we<br \/>\nstudy the relationship between edge detection and contour detection,<br \/>\nbased on which an edge-based image contour detection<br \/>\nalgorithm is proposed. This algorithm fully makes use<br \/>\nof cheap edge information for efficiency purpose.
