The main idea of the proposed<br \/>\nquery-to-model distance metric is to represent a query sketch<br \/>\nusing a compact set of sample views (called basic views) of<br \/>\neach model, and to rank the models in ascending order of the<br \/>\nrepresentation errors. To better differentiate between relevant<br \/>\nand irrelevant models, the representation is constrained to be<br \/>\nessentially a combination of basic views with similar viewpoints.<br \/>\nIn another aspect, we propose a mid-level descriptor (called<br \/>\nBOF-JESC) which robustly characterizes the edge information<br \/>\nwithin junction-centered patches, to extract the salient shape<br \/>\nfeatures from sketches or model views.
