Poletti et al., EPL 93, 37008 (2011)] a model of attractive spinless fermions on the honeycomb lattice at half filling has been studied by mean-field theory, where distinct homogenous phases at rather large attraction strength <span id=\"MathJax-Element-1-Frame\" class=\"MathJax\" tabindex=\"0\"><span id=\"MathJax-Span-1\" class=\"math\"><span id=\"MathJax-Span-2\" class=\"mrow\"><span id=\"MathJax-Span-3\" class=\"mi\">V<\/span><span id=\"MathJax-Span-4\" class=\"mo\">><\/span><span id=\"MathJax-Span-5\" class=\"mn\">3.36<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>, separated by (topological) phase transitions, have been predicted. In this comment we argue that without additional interactions the ground states in these phases are not stable against phase separation. We determine the onset of phase separation at half filling <span id=\"MathJax-Element-2-Frame\" class=\"MathJax\" tabindex=\"0\"><span id=\"MathJax-Span-6\" class=\"math\"><span id=\"MathJax-Span-7\" class=\"mrow\"><span id=\"MathJax-Span-8\" class=\"msubsup\"><span id=\"MathJax-Span-9\" class=\"mi\">V<\/span><span id=\"MathJax-Span-10\" class=\"texatom\"><span id=\"MathJax-Span-11\" class=\"mrow\"><span id=\"MathJax-Span-12\" class=\"mi\">p<\/span><span id=\"MathJax-Span-13\" class=\"mi\">s<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span id=\"MathJax-Span-14\" class=\"mo\">\u2248<\/span><span id=\"MathJax-Span-15\" class=\"mn\">1.7<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> by means of infinite projected entangled-pair states (iPEPS) and exact diagonalization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent letter [D.
