Yet, different relationships play different roles.  For example, one&#8217;s Facebook friend list may include their college professor,  their grandmother, and an acquaintance from the dentist&#8217;s office.  In this talk, I begin by discussing the presentation of relationships in social media.  I emphasize how text is used and how it can be used to shape identity and to infer relationships from this presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Using such textual cues, I will present an approach to predict relationship strength from Facebook pages and discuss how this may generalize to other social media sites.
