It may<br \/>\nactually transform healthcare. Medical institutions in the United States face<br \/>\nincreasing pressure to reduce readmission rates of patients with chronic<br \/>\nconditions because of the financial penalties associated with these<br \/>\nreadmissions. A team of researchers from Center for Data Science at the<br \/>\nUniversity of Washington Tacoma partnered with Multicare Health System, with<br \/>\nsupport from Edifecs, to build a Microsoft Azure-based toolset to predict risk<br \/>\nof hospital readmission (RaaS). The RaaS service blends clinical and claims<br \/>\ndata including hundreds of attributes such as demographics, lab tests, vitals,<br \/>\ncomorbidities, and charges.
