Great Recording Device

I am a high school math teacher and I use this to record myself making videos of math. This is a great option for recording a screen write... I use the quick recording much more then the base recording. Ive used the base recording once, and it was a little more complicated then I thought and ended up recording for half an hour without sound. I have liked everything that I have used so far. Would recommend.

Stable and efficient

I use iXplain to teach in class, and here is how I would compare it to its main competitiors: Explain Everything + iXplain is much more stable. EE is slow and tends to crash with too many pages. + iXplain has pen-pressure-sensitivity support that EE does not have. - iXplain can basically only import images, whereas EE can import many others formats. PowerPoint: + Animated inking, which PP does not have - PP is much better with adjustment of animated objects Note on "Unexpected Error": If you see this error, try changing the directories for saved recordings and videos. You can do by clicking into each category from the home screen of iXplain, swipe from top edge of screen to bring out the menu, and click "change directory". The error should go away once you set the folders.

love the new features

I like how you have an infinite whiteboard to work on while creating a video. I wish there was a paint fill feature instead of just a pen.

Does not work on my surface pro 3 after update

I paid for the pro. I am a math teacher who posts videos for her students, and this software was really useful. After the 14 update, I cannot make any more recordings. When I click on "create a quick recording" or "create a base recording" nothing happens. Please fix this so I can help my students.

I thought that this app was something similar to Doceri, but it wasn't. This app is more difficult to work with and unlike Doceri you can't upload a Microsoft Presentation, and then be able to write or talk through it. Overall, I would not recommend this app to other users. This app was very disappointing!

Great idea, a few irritations

Great idea - recommend you check their website to figure out how to use it first, because it's not very intuitive, but once you get going it's a good app. Exporting videos show the iXplain watermark until you purchase, but (when I purchased) the "Pro Feature" is reasonably priced, so no big deal. Biggest irritation? In-app advertisements on the dialogs, even after you purchase the pro version... Please, please, please turn ads off once people have paid for your product...

Good overall

I've found this really useful; the only downside is that if you want to record voice, you can't have multiple slides. If you want multiple slides, you have to do voice separately, which is not so nice. I just did separate files for each slide I wanted, then combined them in Moviemaker afterwards, and that worked well.

Nice option for Surface 2 RT

I wish there was a better tutorial of how to use each step, especially one for timing of the presentation. I do, however, love the ability to screencast my whiteboard presentation, and the option to draw over my images.

Version notes

Release 14.2: - Bug fixes. Release 14.1: - Bug fixes. Release 14.0: - iXplain now supports an infinite canvas. Use 2 fingers to pan or in case a pen is deteced use only 1 finger to pan. - There is better support for using a pen. For example the eraser button on the Surface pen is supported. - It is now possible to set the folder for saving recordings and videos. For example when setting them to a OneDrive folder, they are automaticaly backed op to OneDrive. - Images can be added as foreground or background images. A foreground image can be moved around in the recording while the background image is locked to the slide. - When doing a quick recording, the images have to be selected in a list before doing the actual recording. When the image list is set before the recording, one can now already save the recording including the image list. This provides a template functionality in order to create recordings even more quickly. - The images in the image list of a quick recording, can be drag and dropped onto the canvas. - Undo/Redo functionality is improved because it now supports every action done in a recording. - Adds are removed from the app.
