Neat tool...but...

Lync is a point-to-point tool, so it needs the network to have acceptable voice quality. Using this tool, I am unable to tell where the traffic is going to/from. I assume it is creating RTP traffic, but to where I don't know. Is it all RTAudio or a combination of other codecs? Does it only testing voice or is video/app share, etc included? Our company blocks RTP across the VPN, not sure if this is hitting the VPN (bad) or not, really need the traceroute option. Also, one of the biggest factors isn't included in it... delay/latency. I am unable to sign out, so it must be using my Lync Client settings to discover the Edge/FE's. I wanted to try it under another login name. Network Connection should show which NIC is being used (wired/WiFi). People need to understand WiFi can provide subpar voice quality, always use a wired connection when it is available for Lync calls. Tool is cool, some improvements could make it "wonderfully cool"

Please make it S.T.U.P.I.D

As a user I am not interested into all technical values, and trust me before an important call, this is not what one would like to concentrate on. Instead if you can provide if this network speed is good enough for a voice only call, desktop sharing only call or for a voice + desktop sharing call then that would guide the user if they should continue or change to another network, etc.

Nice tool. Needs a better looking tile

For an app from Microsoft, the tile looks like it was done by a high school student.

failed on non-domain joined PC

I am entering the credentials correctly, but it continues to fail the sign-in after manually entering the SIP address, user credentials in NT format (domain\user) and the AD password. Great idea, poor execution.

Just fix Lync instead of creating this app

Lync needs to be "fixed" to be more tolerant. this app offers nothing to a Layman for understanding what may be the issue. It reports the wrong IP address. It says I have an autoassigned address 169.x - yet, it's a 192.x.x.x address.

Awesome app to visualize my wifi network perf!

Now I can determine if my wifi connection is ready for Lync calls before I actually place the call!

Does not support federated authentication

I cannot tell if this works at all, let alone how well, because it does not work with my organization's implementation of Office 365. We use federated Active Directory and this app will not log in. I will keep it installed and hope for an update that lets me evaluate and review the app properly.

  • Historical view - Run a test in Always On mode to see your networks performance over extended periods of time to diagnose trends
  • Sign-in issue - Having trouble signing in to Lync? PCD's signin flyout can help you figure why.
