Does what I needed, but...

This app does exactly what I needed -- it allows me to use my windows tablet while "in the field" with my camera. I can download and review RAW files, using this larger screen, and see them much better than on the camera. From there, I can rate the images using the 5 * scale or the color coding. It allows you to flag/unflag, and select those that are flagged as a group. What it doesn't do that I would like: (1) select by rating (e.g., all those that are 3* and above) and (2) run a slide show of those selected. Especially when I am in the field, it would be helpful to have this feature so that I can easily show to others. Also, it wasn't clear how to move the flagged images to the picture application for slideshow viewing (I did figure it out), and how to move the images back into Lightfoot, since I don't use LR on the tablet. Good product that does what it said it would do -- and I tried a few others before settling on this one. Ivy

Best RAW culling app for tablets

I use this after photoshoots to quickly rank/label images and add keywords to my photos' metadata while they're still on the memory card. It's the most efficient and user-friendly way of reviewing photos on the go, and the best part is all of the metadata that you add is read by other professional photo organizational tools like Lightroom, Adobe Bridge/ACR, and AfterShot Pro. This app is a great addition to a professional photographer's workflow. Highly recommended. I believe it supports whatever RAW formats are supported by the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack that can be installed via Windows Update.

Fast and efficient

Perfect tool for in-the-field reviewing and rating. You can even give photos star ratings directly rom an SD card, which will be recognized when you import into Lightroom. Nothing else comes close, not even Photosmith for the iPad!

Key missing features: semantic zoom and ratings that are compatible with Windows Explorer

Version notes

To get the flagging, rating, keywording and color label of photos persisted, Phiewer needs write access to the folder location with images. Phiewer never attempts to write to the original photo file. For syncing with Lightroom or other .xmp compatible application you must always copy the .xmp files along with the image files. NOTE: The flagging in Phiewer cannot sync with Lightroom (this is a limitation in Lightroom).
