Route Planner 8
Free Beer? Well, not exactly, but using Route Planner 8 can save you enough time and gas to pay for a few. Whether you have several appointments to hit in a day, or, need to keep records on your outdoor activities, or, some new real estate properties to inspect, or, need to make deliveries to several locations, or, need to pick up from multiple addresses, or, in my wife's case have 15 yard sales to hit in one morning, you need the help of Route Planner 8 to help you choose the best route and keep a record of your travels. Using an all new design for Windows 8, Route Planner is here for the latest and greatest Microsoft OS. This app is not a port of any of our previous Route Planner apps. It has been designed from scratch to take advantage of the features of Windows 8. Then, we added the best features of the previous Route Planner apps. Plan and Go and Share: Waypoints are stops, appointments, or points-of-interest. Plan your route by entering a few waypoints. If desired, use the "Optimize" feature to automatically reorder your waypoints based on shortest distance. When departing, keep a record of your actual route taken by turning on "Tracking". Your GPS position is recorded and a line drawn on the map showing your progress. Not surprisingly, this is called your "track". Along the way, enter notes for any waypoint. When complete, or at any time, you can share your route and track in several ways: Send a link that shows a Google Map with your waypoints; Send a GPX file (GPS Exchange Format) with waypoints and track; or save your route to SkyDrive for sharing. Free Trial Download and take a look for free. When you see how Route Planner 8 will help you, purchase the "Save" feature which lets you store any number of your own routes. Tracking your movements using your devices GPS and storing a "bread crumb" trail is a second feature you may elect to buy. Windows 8 Embraced One of the more powerful and less touted features of Windows 8 is the Search Charm. Apps, such as Route Planner 8 which make use of this integration, give you a fast and easily accessible query into the app's data. At any time, you may pop up the Search Charm and for example, find out if you have ever been to "3110 North Ridge". Likewise, the Share Charm gives you a fast way to share your route or current location. Choose the Windows 8 Share Charm or select "Share Location" from Route Planner 8's app menu bar. You are presented with a choice of apps with which to share your route or location. For example, you can easily email a link to a Bing Map that shows your current location. As a pleasant reminder, the App's Windows 8 Live tile shows your recently used routes. Thumbnail maps with push-pin show the last few routes you used. And, you may add additional secondary tiles for your frequently accessed routes.More

Cost, glitch, Loss of work, one size window only
This was down loaded as a free app until you try to save or do any modifying. Then it ask if you want to buy this feature. OK I paid to be able to save. Put in 18 stops save as "" then put in 4 more stops all this done by hand because you can not resize the screen to cut and past from things like a spread sheet. Then is just stopped. Restarted it and all the work put into it GONE. not even the first 18 stops. I would rate it a 0 as not usable but the app store does not have a 0.More
This Software Sucks
Not intuitive. Could not see the route. Would not give directions. Would only show the map area of your waypoints. Went to share the route to see if I could then see it and the program crashed. Wasted money.More
Raises more questions than answers
I can't figure out how to zoom in or out on the map of the imported waypoint. Even on the ones included with the product. Since images have the lat/lon and are Bing, why no basic Bing capability? I can't navigate with that tiny postage stamp. No pinch or expand. I did purchase the advanced save feature, there was no warning that routes cannot be saved without it. There is another purchase request for something else. It didn't work. It would be nice if we could know the prices up front. Running on Surface Pro. Does look pretty, just you are stuck with the resolution of view that was imported. A doc manual would be nice if these features are built in. I rarely write reviews, it's that this one promised a lot more than I can find. It is not easy to find out how to contact the author. In android land, it is usually 1 or 2 clicks away. I will gladly revise this if author wants to show me my errors. ..KenMore
I have been working with Route Planner 8 for a couple of hours. So far, I have been able to save a map and add waypoints. However, I haven't been able to actually lay out a route or figure out how to make the map full screen or delete the sample routes or even delete waypoints. Nor have I been able to find any decent help. OMore

Time you won't get back
This has got to be the worst attempt at a route planner. Installing it and especially trying to try it is such a colossal waste of your time. It is time you can't ever get back. It is entirely possible the paid version might actually work, but trying to do a simple route was so difficult and my 2nd waypoint it assumed was going to be in the same general area when it was 4 states away. Then when I forced it to change the town and state, it couldn't even find the location until I entered the zip code. Oh, did I mention this is really lame? I uninstalled within 2 minutes. DON'T waste your time. It will make you angry. If I could give it 0 stars I would.More
