No Wires, Love it!

Worked like a charm out of the box. Audio sync hasn't been a problem. Once in a while there is some pixelating when streaming. Use it a lot to cast PBS streaming shows. Also very handy for showing pictures. Since my Surface it part of my Homegroup, I can cast any picture or video on my main PC right to the TV. No wires!!

Booo

it sucks if youre pc does not have widi they suppose offer a program that suppose to allow u but really this app is a big let down wish it was easy as to purchased their lousy screenbeam device and automatically work without too much expectations or requirements

Excellent utility

I have a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1, and an Actiontec ScreenBeam Pro receiver. Not only can I connect easily and perform is excellent, but the utility is far easier to use for configuring the receiver than what's available for the competition. I tried out a few other adapters and upgrading the firmware was quite an involved procedure--download from the Web site, then connect via WiFi Direct to the adapter, then upload the firmware and apply it, then reconnect to my main network. With this utility, I just connect over WiFi to the receiver, run the utility, and the upgrade is applied. And the ability to set various configuration options (which don't exist on some other adapters) is also welcome. A great utility, and a highly recommended product.

Works Exceptionally Well

I've had nothing but great success with this app. I really like the ability to rename the receiver. Now when I scan for devices I can see what room (because I've named the devices the room) I'm connecting to. Very cool!

Worked Great... After

This app works as advertised but only if your ScreenBeam is using firmware version 1.1.1.0 or newer. I spent a while trying different approaches to resetting deleting and removing the device but nothing worked. I even tried using the utility to save to USB and then update but nothing. What did eventually make it work correctly was upgrading to firmware version 1.1.1.0 first using the USB drive, which involves using the reset button when powering on the device with the firmware USB in it. Instructions and download can be found here: http://www.actiontec.com/298.html#soft One you have it updated you can use the app for future upgrades and settings which is good for me because if it works well I will be giving one to each of my teachers this year for their classrooms and it will be my job to keep them up to date. Notes: I connected using a Samsung Laptops and a Surface Pro both running windows 8.1

Doesn't work with latest firmware

Great app but it can't connect to the latest firmware (1.1.2). Note that it CAN upgrade your device to 1.1.2 but then it can't connect anymore. Had this happen with multiple devices (we have four deployed). Learned this issue after upgrading the first one so learned to rename the others BEFORE flashing them. Please update the app to fix this!

Good, but,

It' an improved way for providing updates to the receiver, once you figure out what's what. Unfortunately, the ScreenBeam transmitter doesn't work with Win8.1. And Actiontec will barely talk about it, let alone divulge any plans or timeline for a fix.

This is the way to upgrade the ScreenBeam!

This is a great app. Now it's so easy to upgrade my ScreenBeam Pro - no more USB required. The entire process is quick and easy. If you can't connect, try resetting the ScreenBeam Pro and then delete it from your Printers and Devices screen. Add it back using the WiDi app, then try again. I've noticed after upgrading that the ScreenBeam Pro is finicky and sometimes needs to be reset. Nice job on the app. Thanks for making this a completely hands-off device.

Doesn't work

This is a horrible tool and hardware. Simply doesn't work in my Win 8.1 system and Dell XPS12. Wasting my time and money
