Good but some issues

Sketchable is a good creative app overall. The toolsets and customization options allow for a lot of expression and range. I'm using this with a Surface Pro 3 and Sketchable has run remarkable well. But my problems are with the UI. When I started using the app a couple of weeks ago basic functions were entirely too hard to find. Key mark of bad UI design. I couldn't find the fill tool because there isn't one. The fill function isn't better than a dedicated fill tool. How to change layer order isn't immediately made clear. The toolbar is lacking. If a user has to consult a tutorial for basic functions after opening the app, the UI is a failure. Sketchable functions well once the steep learning curve is overcome but I see no reason why a standard toolbar UI wouldn't suffice here. I'll use the app but it won't be my daily driver. Sketchbook for Mobile is still better if more expensive. * WTF, I have 8GBs of RAM in a Surface Pro 3 but Sketchable still limits me to 8 layers? REALLY?

Compliments & Complaints

Sketchable is excellent for drawing simple, all the way to elaborate artwork. The tools are fantastic. However, they do have some flaws. First of all, I would like to point out a small problem with the blur tool. It functioned well up until a few days ago, then it no longer blurred and it changed to work like an eraser. I don't know why that is, but I hope that it can be fixed soon! Something else has happened today with the eraser. It used to erase completely, but now it erases faintly and only makes the drawings lighter. I can't seem to find any way to fix it. The problems with the blur tool and the eraser are the main reasons why I am writing this review. I wish to let the developers know what is going on and hope that they fix it. Although, Sketchable has some minor issues, I still think that it is a wonderful app. I would recommend it to any fellow artists out there! This app is superb, and it's very fun to draw with, and I encourage Silicon Benders to keep up the good work! =)

Great Tool For Drawing

It's the best app for drawing on the windows market. For some time I was drawing with sketchbook express. But it had no layers to work with. This program has layers you need. Only 2 downsides, number 1 you cannot cut and paste should you need to make anatomy adjustments you will have to either redraw the section that's incorrect or upload the picture onto your PC and make your adjustments there. Which leads to problem 2 which is you can export your files in PhotoShop which is great but when it comes to importing said picture back into sketchable, it does not find them in the folder, so you have to use a more common format such as .png or a .jpeg as you may know jpeg or png files are not in layers. But setting up a basics sketch is doable then using layers to draw over with more details. Still far better than sketchbook express for windows rt.

For Surface 3

I love Sketchable app, the best app to draw, sketch, color whatever you want, your imagination is the limit. One of the features that I like a lot is the fact that you can use layers that a plus. I have tried quite a few drawing apps this is by far the best drawing app in all tools, options, and ingenuity. With sketchable I believe you get a complete set of tools and options than other apps just don't have. thank you for such a great drawing experience!

Worth It

Having used several drawing apps from the Windows Store, I can say this is one of the best, if not THE best. I use Photoshop and Paint Tool Sai for most of my drawing, and the tools in Sketchable are very similar. I love having layers and mirroring features. I've seen a lot of people complain about spending $12 for an app, but compared to the cost of major art programs, this is a steal. If you can't afford the programs like Photoshop, Sai, or Painter, and you don't want to be a pirate, Sketchable is a good deal. Giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish I had more customization for the journal sizes. You choose from a list of default sizes and their no way to make your own. Aside from that, I love this app.

Loses work too often

I'm not sure the problem that the software is having but on numerous occasions now the software does not save, or does save but returns an unfinished piece: layers missing work but still has some. Colors missing while others remain. There is no save button to save it yourself and exporting to Photoshop means you can never pull it back in. You would have to export each layer as a PNG. Needless to say the software is becoming very aggravating when hours of work are lost simply because you turned your computer off.

Give us your money for a this free app

I do not know where to start but ill just jump right in and say want money to use certain brushes or markers. The app by its self is great without the in app purchases, there is a lot to do with the tools there until you see how much they restricted you from the full package such as $2 per brush. If you are looking for a free program to draw I recommend SketchBook (SketchBook.com) it has a pro version but the free version has more than twice as much, the UI is better and it has a pressure sensitive backdrop unlike Sketchable. Sketchable is a ok app if you are just going to scribble something but if you want something A LOT more professional go with Sketchbook. PS. I do not know the people from Sketchbook this is just me saying there is way better drawing apps that offer much more for free. The main reason I wrote this review is so you don't get scammed by people like this who want $2 for a pencil brush

Version notes

Release 33 focused on fixing crashes occurring in the x86 version when using the layers palette or transform tool. Performance has also been improved. "You don’t need a manual to start working. Pick a brush and paint away. Under the hood there is a lot more power than you are first aware of... The speed of the brushes when making strokes is fast and there is absolutely no lag." - Don Seegmiller, Master Painter "Overall, if you are looking for a great little program that packs a bunch of features into an easily accessible interface, you cannot go wrong with Sketchable.” - Don Seegmiller, Master Painter
