Totally a useless program now

How did WinZip fall so far? I can only access zip files from this horrid interface and share through their horrid sharing app? Who would use this?

Not free and couldn't open first file

A trial is not a free program with in app purchases. M$ needs to stop these companies from their false pretense. Add to that, the first file I tried to open had an Exemption Failure but had no problem with another app...

Free... with a hitch

Sure its free, but after your trial is over, you have to wait to open files... then it stops working all together... finding an app that is truly free to use... forever (after all, it was before)

Old WinZip was better

Seems it only allows you to open the file and access data from within the app. There seems no way to actually extract the data into a standard file for continued use.

A form of ransomware

After the trail period the app freezes on a Subscribe message ($8) and does not show up in the Remove Programs list. You must manually associate File Explorer to open ZIP files or else this app will hold your ZIP files for ransom.

No longer free

I downloaded the free version of WinZip, went to open it and got that my trial subscription was already over and had to pay the $7.99. I never downloaded this before so never had the trial version to begin with.

Stick with the desktop app. This one's useless.

It lacks even the most basic features of the desktop WinZip app. And, it comes with cryptic instructions that will leave you clicking things at random to find out what, for example, an "Application Bar" is. It has no way to quickly navigate through your file system to locate what you're looking for. So ... Not suited for new users, and not suited for experienced users either. Their desktop version is powerful and easy to use. I'm not sure why they bothered making an App Store version that was neither.

Dissociated .ZIP files from Windows Explorer

I thought this program would be useful, but I had to uninstall it in order to open .ZIP files with Windows Explorer again. I don't recommend WinZip for Windows 8.
