7/17/1946 (73 years old) Annfield Plain, County Durham, England
British actor Alun Armstrong is primarily known for his work on stage, with six Laurence Olivier Award nominations and one win to his name. Armstrong is also a staple of British television, where he has been equally rewarded for his work. While it is not any great surprise to find him working in film, it is perhaps the medium he is least known in, in spite of character roles in several big Hollywood films.
His father was a coal miner and both his parents were Methodist lay preachers.
First got into acting through Shakespeare productions at his grammar school.
Made his screen debut in the 1971 film Get Carter after writing a letter to MGM, upon learning they were filming nearby, and subsequently met with director Mike Hodges who was keen to cast local actors.
