Norman Panama

Director

1914-2003

Chicago-born producer/director/screenwriter Norman Panama has done most of his work in association with his longtime partner Melvin Frank, most of it -- though not all -- in the area of comedy, including the last of the Hope/Crosby Road movies, The Road to Hong Kong (1962). Panama's most successful dramatic script is probably Above and Beyond (1953), the story pilot Paul Tibbetts, who commanded the atom bomb mission of Hiroshima.
