1st Time Surface Pro-er and Glad of It

I was researching replacement tablets after a horrible Samsung experience around this time last year and finally came upon reviews of the Surface Pro 4. The favorable reviews it received won me over and rumors of the possible release dates for the next gen had me put my purchase plans on hold. I'm glad I did, this device (so far) is awesome! I had a 3rd generation iPad as well and it was a great tablet but the SP is so much more! It has a full operating system and touch screen interface that are great selling points for Design Work as I was sold at being able to work with a full Adobe Suite as well as Office and other software packages and so far (I purchased it on release date June 15, 2017) it's living up to my expectations. I would have loved to see the USB-C or Thunderbolt connectivity added to the set-up (more for being able to stretch out the lifespan of the SP than anything else) but I can live with this config. Very pleased so far, Two Thumbs Up from me!

Most versatile device on the market

I work in IT and I travel in and out of businesses all day long. I need a complete operating system in order to connect to business domains, have the ability to use Remote Desktop services, and I need something light and portable with a good battery life. This device definitely does all of those things. I've only had it for one day but I love my new surface pro. It's extremely fast, quiet, light, portable, and the battery lasts a super long time. I am looking forward to LTE support however. I heard that this will be available in a later update. So far I've installed office 365 using outlook word excel etc... I remoted into several PCs using remote software, I use outlook and Citrix all day and the surface pro has performed all of these tasks with ease. I was a little bit worried about the fanless cooling system but mine has remained cool the entire time and has never felt hot at all. I'm extremely pleased and look forward to what my surface pro helps me accomplish. Thanks

the best tablet ive ever owned.

Literally I'm a apple guy. I do all my film work on my apple products, but this is a huge game changer for me. It's powerful enough for my adobe software, it's fast, light weight and super quiet. The fact I can take this anywhere so easily blows my mind. I write my scripts on here, storyboard and I can even review footage and do some assembly edits before I'm even back in the editing room. Microsoft might just be slowly bring me over to their side as they are starting to gear more towards the creative professionals. Thank you for this product!

Now this is something I will be recommending

As a Physician Liaison, I am tasked at keeping the Doc's tech connected to the EHR. The form, fit and capabilities were somewhat lacking in MSP3, MSP4 - now - better -much better. Forget USB-C, remember, most Hospitals don't have the infrastructure to support this technology. As for LTE, thank you M$ for not making the "laptop" cellular, If we need LTE, we have a jetpack, or a cell phone hotspot. I would rather have the space used for battery. Thank you for keeping the docking station interface. the idea of setting up "DOC Spots" through out the facility is great. A docking station, and a wired mouse and two 22'inch monitors is less expensive that setting up a bunch of workstations. slip in/out. Why four stars - "laptops" have keyboards. enough said. With any new technology, there is an adoption period/ budget cycle to consider.. So mind the Store, because OCT 1 will be coming around soon. And, the second product run will be in inventory- lessons learned.

Amazing for professional photo editing

My husband uses this and the studio for all his photo editing. Amazing little device. Apparently one person on here thinks LTE is a deal breaker but the thought of that has never crossed my mind until I encountered their tantrum here.

Good and Bad

Great computer, not so great support. Love the computer. However mine developed a weird crack on the screen. It has never been dropped or mistreated in any way and the crack shows that, it is a single crack and curves around the screen. Never seen a device mistreated that cracked like this, the only thing I can think of is the slight pressure on a corner while taking my cover off, but even then I would think the crack would be more than a single curved crack. I took it to a store to see if anything can be done and while I tried to argue a defect they said there is nothing they can do, I can pay them $450 for a new screen was the only option. My advice is get the extra warranty, if the screen breaks for any reason its your problem even if it was not accidental damage, MS doesn't care, buy a new product is their belief, which is the wrong attitude to take when other manufacturer's have developed comparable products.

Who need's a laptop

Truly impressed, I was replacing a 2 year old high end laptop, I was concerned I still might not have the power I need, but crap with the i7 and Iris Graphics, it out performed my current laptop, and my expectations. I knew it would be better and faster, but I really didn't think it would be able to replace my (or a) laptop so easily but it did. I do a lot of Illustrator work, and this thing just blown through my files. Yes, I wish it had a USB C ( They lost a Star for that reason), and it's more expensive than a equally outfitted laptop, but don't let the size fool you it's a more than capable system. The size is what I was after something small to travel with that can do everything I need and this is it.

Love it!!!

I upgraded from a Surface Pro 4. While I loved the SP4, there were a few nagging issues with it (namely issues waking from Sleep & short battery life). Microsoft has fixed both of these issues on the new Surface Pro. It finally feels like the perfect combination of hardware and software, and will only get better with the fall update for Windows 10. The only thing I feel it's lacking now is a usb-c port.

Great update from SP3

I love my SP3, so when the SP came out (again), it was time to upgrade. It took a bit of convincing, because my SP3 is still going strong, but I was ready for more battery life, for sure. Though I haven't measured it, it definitely lasts significantly longer than my SP3 does. The new angle to the kick stand is great, the new pen attaches securely and writes like a dream, and Windows Hello works well (if not in too much direct light). I'm happy with my purchase, and one thing MS doesn't often get credit for is their exceptional support. It's 2017 and I'm still getting tweaks and updates to my SP3. That counts for a lot in my book, as some other manufacturers move on a couple weeks after release and don't look back. I was burned by a MAJOR PC manufacturer a few years back, so yeah, Surface devices are pricey, but they're well-made and well-supported.

this is going to be my 3rd surface and love it!

Love this thing! It's a beast! For such a small package it's amazing! Powers 3 monitors for me through the dock, bunch of USB devices, do photoshop, web dev, emails, everything. And powers through it. Make sure to not go cheap on the processor or ram or you're stuck with a brick. :-) Third one now, was hoping they would bump this up, but last one has been through hell.
