They will meet a local woman who works in technology; and find out that a successful career in technology is within their reach. During the hands on activity Code your own video game with MakeCode Arcade, students will use block coding to create a video game with MakeCode Arcade. Students learn fundamental game and coding concepts—like sprites, variables, and coordinates—and use their new skills to create and customize a playable game. Participants build a sensorized joystick using cardboard and copper tape and use it to view 3-D rotations of digital shark models. Players will be playing on one of ten high powered ASUS ROG gaming laptops and compete in a single elimination bracket.
