Exactly what I wanted

I backed this game on kickstarter 2 years ago, expecting for banjo threeie, and Yooka-Laylee delivered. If you were a fan of the old banjo games or even others platformers in the late 90's I guarantee you'll enjoy this.

SO, here's the scoop. Do you like original donkey kong? do you like banjo kazooie? Then buy this game, i bought this hoping to show my daughter that video games are fun and now she's hooked and loves them. this game is fun not just for the runts but I've been playing it with her and it's a good time, once you start playing it you instantly feel the old DK/Banjo days creep up in your memories and it's just a stroll down memory lane while playing something new and fresh, plus $40 for a new game ain't bad.

Looking at this game on its own merit, forgetting the rose tinted glasses, it is a BEAUTIFUL and well crafted game. there is a special charm and humor remniscant of what made rare a success. It plays so well, that I sometimes have fun just running and jumping around the world. Its hard to ignore its referenbces to the past. I will admit it tickles my nostalgia. But judging it by itself, the worlds are so much larger than what is provided in most games today. each individual level compares to shadow of mordor in size. In summation, you remember the ambition and excitement developers had when 3 dimensional gaming was new? they wanted to encourage exploring and hide easter eggs and make the general environment enjoyable. well this group of developers never lost that passion.

Great 3D platformer for all ages.

Great 3D platformer for all ages. As when I was young I had played both Banjo Kazooie and Banjoo Tooie and this game brought back the great memories i had as a kid. I had purchased this game for my son to enjoy so he could relive the same fun memories when he gets older. The controls are great and camera is oldschool platformer and i do not mind at all. The ability to explore a world and then to enhance the world using collected items was something new and refreshing. Wondering how to get the next piece to continue simply upgrade the world for more exploring opportunities. And for 40$ the graphics and sound and everything that went into making this was worth the price too me. And like Banjoo Tooie allowing for local play with my son in the arcade mini games was a fun little plus and good practice for the main adventure. If your looking for something new and challenging then Yooka-Laylee is a game you need to play.

Great Game Overall. Just two things...

This is a great game and worthy of being successor to Banjo-Kazooie. Don't listen to the negative reviews. Those people don't seem to realize BK was a one of a kind game and they will not see another that perfect again. I DO have a couple of issues with YL however. 1. I wish they would have made more levels instead of doing the level expansion thing. 2. Tone down the difficulty on some of these enemies and challenges. Some tasks and fights are unreasonably difficult. Had me screaming at the tv. I'm pretty sure my neighbors think I murdered my roommate. This is a kid's game, not Dark Souls. Tone it down. Oh and part of that difficulty is due to the controls feeling slippery during certain maneuvers or in certain transformations. That needs tweaking. Overall great game though. 4/5.

First off i'll say that there are spots in the game where the camera fights with you ,but it doesn't break the game. That's the only negative in my opinion. I've been having so much fun with this! The dialogue has been very funny and the challenges have actually made my brain think which is rare in todays games. Music is catchy and sticks with you all day. Need more games like this!

Banjo-Kazooie 3!!!!!

I have waited for a platformer game like this for so long. The graphics are amazing , the puzzles are fun, and the overall game has that charm only felt in older Rare games. Besides some back tracking if you want to collect everything, I truly love this game & can't recommend it enough for fans of previous Rare games like Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong.
