This app just isn't that easy to use. It's actually just easier to do a search for Oregon birds. The app is pretty, but maybe for birders, rather than the person just trying to figure out what little sparrow is bully the cats, keeping them from their food and eating all the wildflower seed. According to the app, there is only one kind of sparrow in Oregon. I'm sure it says more, but I can't figure out how to see more.More
How to Search
I have used this app just a little bit, but noticed another review or two lamenting the lack of a "Search Feature". Like all Windows 8.1 apps, search is over on the right side of your screen. Or hit "Windows Key + S" - then select "Audubon Birds" as the context (the developer should be able to default to this). From there you can just type in bird names (and it will remember what you've typed in). Apart from that, this seems like a fairly nice app. I did have it crater a couple times, but it restarts quickly enough, and searching is easy. The layout is nice! Update - They still have not fixed the Login issue with NatureShare accounts. I filed a bug with them. The app will not sync my account because my password has too many "special characters in it".More
This is a wonderful app! We have a lot of songbirds in our yard, and I didn't recognize some of them. So I did the free trial of this app, and bought it a few days later. Being able to listen to the different calls and sounds they make help me to identify every bird that visits my feeders. Great tool, and easy for kids to use, too!More
This is the best bird "book" app ever and is well worth the price! It is a little slow at times but it still is a cool app. Especially good for birdwatchers! Thumbs UP!More
Will not load
I can't really write anything about this app, as it simply doesn't load. I've tried on multiple occasions, rebooted, etc. When starting the app, I get a nice picture of a blue bird on a post, but the app never get's past that, it just says loading and spins indefinitely. It seems to only have a 7-day trial, so that is pretty much that...I highly doubt a fix will be released tomorrow, and I'm not going to spend money on a product I cannot try out first.More
Wish there was a checklist
I wish there was a checklist so you could mark off what birds you've seen. Also some more browsing options would be nice. For example some of the woodpeckers can only be found looking under certain groups. Over all, good ap.More
Works only at 1920x1080 resolution?
I've tried the program on my HD tablet and it works fine. But on my desktop computer that doesn't have a 1920x1080 display, the program doesn't run. Just stays on a "Loading" screen. If I connect my desktop computer to my HD TV, the program works. Back to my lower resolution monitor and it doesn't work. Really? Only works on HD displays? Really? Would give it a higher rating if it worked everywhere.More
I've been wanting this for so long!
Thanks Aubudon! I used it when I had my iPhone and LOVED IT! I could bring in birds and take pics and post sightings but lost it when I ditched the iOS stuff for the Nokia 1020 phone with superb pic taking now. I've been very disappointed learning Aubudon hadn't plans to bring out their birds to the Microsoft platform till now but PLEASE bring it to the phone! It's because of Aubudon Birds I really got into bird watching. I can learn where other people have had sightings in my area I can go out and view a unique bird for myself and post it for others to see too. The sounds and pics benefits me identifying a bird so much more than the traditional book. I can even detect there's a different dialect of a species which I found fascinating! Thank you Aubudon. I'll give a 5 star but please bring it out on the Windows Phone so it's much more transportable to enjoy. Thank you.More
Lovely Illustrations...Birds easy to ID and Find
This App was a great discovery for my birdwatching habit. It takes me more time to find the book than it does to find the bird in this app. Also the sounds and calls in the audio is amazing and fun.More
Really useful for hobbyists
This is a really great app. Favorite features include showing similar birds to assist with identification and something none of my bird books can do... make multiple recordings of bird calls available! Data can also be cached locally for offline use in the field.More
